I’ve never posted here but I need help. I have a 2018 Jeep Compass. I got it in Dec 2022 from a dealership (it was a trade in they “bought” from someone, so I don’t got shit for warranties.) Mine has always said 14.2-14.4v on the steering wheel dash. Last night my fiancé drove it and it was fine. This morning, we went to leave and it wouldn’t start. Click click click, lights/air/radio fine, dash gas/temp tickers flicking up and down. No power to turn over. (Push to start.) Found out there is two batteries. Both were tested and read 11v. HOWEVER one thing I noticed is that little Start stop bullshit has never worked on my car, whether it’s “turned on” or not. Just doesn’t do anything. I thank god for it because that’s annoying but now I’m wondering if my aux battery is dead dead & that’s why these things are happening/happened. We got it charged up (jump start) for 20min w my fiancés Silverado, and it got to 14.4v. Advanced auto wouldn’t touch it or offer to sell us anything. Told us to go to Jeep Chrysler. (It’s Sunday), we Went back home and now the dash says 14.0V & still starts up. I’m just wondering if there’s any correlation between this problem and that damn start stop function? Cause isn’t that what the aux battery is for? To supply your accessories and your literal stop/start? Mine also seems like it takes a second to “kick on.” Like the car, literally turning on haha. Anyone else have an issue with their stop start function AND battery issues? (Or potential battery issues, could still be other things like the starter, wires n cables n fuses, alternator, etc.) I’m not sure what’s going on, if it’s a dead primary battery or a dead aux battery, or both. Or something else like I listed in my last sentence. I need any and all help I can get! I got some pictures and videos, but I’m not sure if I can post them (or if they’ll be any help). This is the first time I’ve had a potential battery issue on my Jeep. I just blew my tire a few weeks ago! 🤣
I put a poll just for fun, but I really do need help since Advanced auto said no we can’t help, and I rely HEAVILY on my vehicle.
TLDR: 2018 Jeep Compass 4x4 has been fine until this morning. Suddenly wouldn’t turn over. Push to start. Ebrake automatically turns on (must manually shut off), and push to start hasn’t worked EVER for us. We got it used in Dec 2022, 82k miles. We don’t know the last time the batteries were changed. Hooked up to Silverado to jump start and it took 20 minutes but it finally started up. Took it to advanced and they said they can’t help because there’s TWO batteries (primary and aux). Wouldn’t offer to sell anything either, said to take it to a Jeep dealership. The only two problems I’ve noticed ever are: it seems slow to start fully, like it rolls in the engine for 2-3 seconds before being fully engaged and on. The stop/start hasn’t ever worked even if it’s turned on. Could my aux battery be dead and draining my main battery possibly? I don’t know cars that well and I’m desperate.
when it was hooked up to the Silverado, it would click (on the primary battery, that’s what it sounded like) when we would try to start it. After 20m it finally got up to 14.4v ACCORDING TO my dash. After an hour of being unplugged it went down to 14.0V-14.2V.
I’m not sure if I need new primary AND aux, or if it’s something else.
