Got demolished by a Ford Explorer Sport

On the way to dinner tonight a guy in a Ford Explorer sport was driving like an @ss and cut me off. He took off from a couple of stop lights so I figured at the first opportunity I had I would try to pull up next to him and see what the Explorer was all about. (while I was behind him I noticed that it was the ecoboost;assuming the 3.5) So I knew he would most likely hit it off the line so I was ready and actually jumped him on the green, and had him by 1/2 a length. By 25mph he was even with me and continued to pull.. I shut it down at 55mph and he had 3-4 lengths on me.. Needless to say I was very disappointed.

* I know the Jeep is an SUV, 4x4, luxury blah blah, but I figured the HEMI would have eaten him up. I guess the only replacement for displacement is a turbo:slapfight:

Lads your Range Rover envy is showing better check your zippers!

Since I didnt hit all the option boxes difference in price between GC SRT8 I configured and RR Sport is about $15K. Scott I am probably saving money since I wouldnt need a JK for off road.

If I was going to get a Range Rover I think I would go old school and get a restored and repowered Defender 110 from East Coast Rover to haul my dogs. I like my slow V6 2012 GC.

Just think maybe one day SRT will be mentioned in the same breath as M and AMG or even Ecoboost. Doubtful but could happen if and when Ferrari wins a Drivers Championship in F1 again.

Unlike many who posted here, and this is not a brag just statistics. I owned a real range rover, the 2010 flagship, had it for a year and a half.
The feeling of luxury cocoon was nice for the first months, then the noise and creeks started. QC not the best.

Oh, and I took it off road, with the stock tires, ending up with me having to replace a shredded tire 2 miles down the road. Needless to say off it went.
In comparison I took my stock overland off road, and although the stock tires are not good by any standard, they held on and took me through whatever I did. At the same price, a range is a better car, at the actual prices, I'd take a jeep any day.
