Just tried to program the homelink. Our neighborhood gate is an old style non rolling type opener. Followed all the instructions and got the solid light to show the programming took, but it doesn't operate the gate. I noticed that the radio goes off when I depress the homelink button. I cleared all the data and reprogrammed with the same results. Called homelink and they recommeded taking the car in to the dealer. Anyone else with this problem, or am I missing something obvious.

Could not get the Homelink to Sync, Used the Remote, Learn botton and Key Pad, finally replaced the battery in the Remote and got it to Sync. Homelink.com does not have the Cherokee listed as one of their vehicles. I called them and just got a walk-thru , never got to an operator. Hopes this helps someone.
Garage door opener was a Chamberlain and Remote was a Lift Master.

Hold your homelink button down. Open your gate using your original opener while it is near your homelink button. Then let go of the homelink button.
