Ok, so having an issue I am attempting to figure out prior to dropping off at dealership.

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 with V6 along with 76k miles. While in drive with brake on, the vehicle has a small but annoying vibration. When I put the vehicle in park orin neutral, with the load off the engine, the vibration goes away.

has anyone experienced this and thus figured out what is causing this? TIA

I did a how to on replacing the motor mounts, I describe how to test them... ...and they usually leak at the bottom, where the rubber seems to be thinner...

With the hood open, you should be able to peak under the hood and see the top of the motor while sitting in the drivers seat... ...engine running in gear, stand on the brake and give it some gas, this will make the engine twist, new motor mounts the engine barely twists, we're talking fractions of an inch, like a 1/4" to 1/2"... ...put it in reverse and repeat, that will try to twist the motor in the opposite direction... ...Motor mounts totally shot, the motor will move more than an inch, several inches for a really torn up mount...

Agreed. I'm guessing it's because they are fluid filled (oil?), the sidewalls of the mount eventually crack and the fluid leaks out. When new they do a great job of absorbing vibrations but don't hold up. Heavy acceleration makes the motor want to twist putting upward strain on the left mount. I had a older Corvette that would actually break the solid rubber mount and allow the engine to lift enough for the fan to hit the shroud. Some started bolting a short piece of chain with no slack in it from the upper "A" frame to the engine. A friend had a Pontiac and when his mount broke, engine twist would pull the accelerator linkage wide open. Eventually solved when they started making mounts that had a hook system connecting the upper and lower mounts molded into the rubber so if the rubber broke the hooks limited twist.

You may be able to see leakage from one or both mounts or can watch the engine for movement from above while someone else puts it into and out of gear. The dealer is going to do their own diagnosis anyway but at least you can make arrangements in advance for a loaner/rental and it's usually a one day repair if parts are in stock and they can get to it right away.
