I like the way the Flowmaster exhaust sounds but I dont see a system for the JGC but I do see one for the Durango......anyone know if this will work on the JGC?

I'll try to call Flowmaster tomorrow but just want to know if one of you might know something about this.

Exhaust wrap has been used for a long time in racing applications (I use it on my Buell Motorcycle). The idea behind it is to keep the exhaust gases hot, this will aid exhaust flow and protect surrounding components from overheating. I’ve used many different types and they all have failed at one point…..they eventually burn through but the DEI titanium stuff is virtually indestructible. Also the other styles need to be coated with a silicone spray to protect it from the weather but the titanium stuff does not. It’s not really a “sound reducer” but I’m hoping that it will reduce the high frequency vibration/drone that I get when switching back and forth between ECO mode and normal. It’s kind of like adding mass to the pipes to reduce vibration……I hope. :D

I've never had a problem with corrosion on stainless steel pipes and I've used this stuff on both my bike and my turbo RX-7. I don't have my exhaust temp gauge hooked up on my RX-7 but I can assure you that it gets stupid hot so heat on the jeep shouldn't be a problem. The only problem that I might have is excessive steaming when the wrap gets wet.
I'm not really expecting a big change with the drone but I figured it was worth a try.
I've been running around with the MDS off and I've lost 2-3 miles per gallon....which isn't that bad.
If this doesn't help I'm going to try to add a couple more resonators....if I can find room. :)

I wanted to install it this weekend but my stainless steel zip ties didn't get delivered yet.

I had a FD years ago and RX7's run red hot all the time. RX7 owners have been wrapping exhaust parts for decades trying to get the underhood temps down.

Thanks for doing the legwork on the exhaust. It's a little too loud for me too since this is mostly my wife's car. I'm going to head to a local custom exhaust shop and ask them.

Yeah some here have added more resonators and by the time you get the drone tolerable, the exhaust is quieter than the stock system. Not saying to not try it, but others have gone there, did that.

I don't know of anyone that has tried pipe wrap to reduce noise. There is stainless and there is stainless, not all the same quality, but you know that. Wrapping pipes is routine in racing apps, not so much for an everyday car, however.

Everyone I've known to try wraps for strictly street applications (in non stock areas) have been disappointed in the long run. But I only know of a dozen or so.

Little update, I wrapped the exhaust but it didn't make a huge difference. I didn't have enough wrap to do all the way to the mufflers so I stopped just before the differential.
I'll order another 50' foot roll for a total of 150' to finish.

I think it made a very small difference during ECO mode but you can still notice when it switches back and forth.

So now I'm going to take a few measurement of the cargo area and order some Fat Mat sound insulation.

Just for the heck of it, I reached out to Flowmaster to see if they had a cat-back system in the works and received the response below. Apparently, they don't recognize that there might be a demand for such a system. :(

I ordered my Dynomax from Amazon with an expected delivery of the latter part of September. Amazon must have received a shipment earlier than anticipated since I got email from them on Friday letting me know my system would be delivered this coming week. Of course, no tracking number yet which only adds to my sense of anticipation!

I'll be sure to posts some video after the install is completed. I have not decided whether I'm going to install it myself or have it done and avoid the time spent on the garage floor.

Subject: [eSUPPORT #9604]: I would love to have that unique flow master sound for my HEMI

Hey Ken,
Sorry but their is no demand yet for a kit so that's why we don't have one yet. I would recommend running a single 3" into a Super 50 muffler and a 3" single tail pipe out.
If you have anymore questions feel free to give us a call.
