Downloaded the 5411 file for the RHR last night and burned the ISO image to a DVD-R this morning. While driving to work, I updated the Gracenotes software. No problems. This update is a little different from the past ones in that it is one large ISO file, not a folder of 17 files. I have had 100% success rate with burning an ISO image to a DVD-R at the slowest speed possible (2X worked fine). I play a lot of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, so I am not sure how this update will affect me.

Thanks *sox*

SOX posted a scary message in the other thread to not update GraceNotes via USB...apparently it can brick the radio in some circumstances. Mine went fine...but I did ask him for more of an explanation of the risk and reason.

yes, some guys here in the USA with the RHR and some one in Europe with the RHW, have update the gracenotes with USB and have riceved a serrius error and then you have no chance to resolve this problem!........only change the unit.

I have repair some unit with serrius error on the application software, this are possible, but with the gracenotes error no.

betther make no risk and update with DVD.

Like everyone else, I too am thankful for the efforts of SOX. He's a hero to all of us.

I am sure the readers of this post are, like me, disappointed with how incomplete the Gracenotes album art database is. I loaded v5411 onto my 730N RHR. There was some improvements but I still have about 20% of my collection not showing the proper album art. Worst of all, some art that was correct in v4118 is now wrong or missing in v5411.

How can we as end users correct this situation? Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram would do well to ask us how the database could be improved. Doesn't it make sense that if album art is missing in the database that it should default to the song's ID3 tag?

Please let me know I am not the lone voice out here.

New Here...I have a 2012 RHR Navigation system....I wanted to update it because it always freezes and crashes. Do I have to do each upgrade at a time or can I skip to the newest one? Also, I can't get the system to read the DVD or the Flashdrive...any help would be awesome!

Thanks,

Casey
post first a pic from your systeminformation

Just updated my RHR radio to gracenotes 5411 and then updated radio system to 2.184. I unzipped the ISO files from SOX site and copied to USB and installed both without any problems. Guess I was lucky with USB as I just read about the USB risk that is avoided by burning to a DVD. I noticed some improvements with album covers now existing that were missing in prior version 4118. Still won't be satisfied until My Alan Parsons Project gracenotes album cover stops showing a smiling Michael Jackson at about age 13. Maybe next time. System 2.184 seems to work fine. I have a Win Phone 8 blue tooth device that was having issues with the prior version 2.136 locking up that is working fine now. However time will tell as Win Phone 8 as published by MgGiG Chrysler is not compatible with RHR radios for music and album art. Thank you SOX. You da man !

New system version still does not support Win Phone 8 for music. When installed first time it works perfectly, but now the sound is always disabled when I connect to music. If I unpair the device, then the music comes back on. Bluetooth phone always works fine, but music is still not supported on Win Phone 8. I think that I'll try to go back to previous system version. Separate gracenotes update has been great. Noticably more album art, but still a ways to go.

I recently did the 2.184 software update on my RHR 730N using a USB worked great no problem... But, followed by updating the gracenotes 5411. The process started as normal but when the unit rebooted to continue the update nothing seemed to happen, later when checking my radio functions my Devices menu, usb, Bluetooth etc.. Icon selections are grayed out, unselectable. How can I correct this or is this some part of the update process that well correct it self??? Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

I downloaded and burned the ISO's for both 2.184 and 5411 Gracenotes last week. I installed 2.184 with no issue. Then a couple days later I had an hour drive so I put the 5411 DVD in to install along the way. The progress indicators got all the way to being filled/complete when I got the following error message (note I got screenshot from subsequent attempt but the message is the same):

I waited until I got home and tried again but got the same error. I even re-downloaded the ISO and burned a new DVD. Same error.

Here is my system info:

Any input/advice would be welcomed. I could try with USB if that might work differently. Perhaps I could try going back a revision - if an ISO is available for the older version.

Thanks.

I use software that will make an ISO copy. Use the lowest speed possible for the copy (i.e. 2x). Have not had any problems using the DVDs.

I had no problem creating the DVDs. They look fine from exploring in Windows and they verified fine when being created. I had no problem using the ISO of the 2.184 update.

So it appears that installing the Gracenotes from DVD failed for me and I was trying to get information as to what I can do next. Is the ISO of a previous version available? Should I try installing from USB now that DVD has failed? Is there some other 'diagnostic' I can do to check my DVD hardware?

Hi" new here but have made use of Sox's latest gracenote and uconnect software updates. I'm in South Africa, with a WK2 grand cherokee CRD Overland, 2012 year, RHP 730 uconnect system. After a DVD ISO update, all's been fine.

However, after adding a bunch of mp3s this weekend to the hard drive via USB , I've run into an issue where the system freezes, everything is frozen, even the clock, and it only resets after I switch the car off and the screen goes blank, give it a few moments and restart. Is there perhaps a corrupted mp3 on the hard drive now?

Any advice is much appreciated

Hey everyone,

Installed the 2.184 update with no problems but I am having problems with the Gracenotes update like others are. Followed the instructions to the T and created the DVD. Inserted and started the install, everything looks good for about 3/4 of the way and then it goes back to the start install screen. I could live without the update now but since the install removes the old file I got nothing. I have downloaded the update 3 times and made 3 DVD's with the same results.

Any Ideals?

Thanks

I had to download the update 3 times before I got a good copy. The best way to check your download before you burn it to disk is to downloand and install 7-Zip. It is a free program. You can then right click on the .ISO file you download and extract it. If it extracts with errors, delete the .ISO and download again. If it extracts without errors then burn it to disk then update. That is how I was able to successfully update my radio.

Ok, finally got Gracenotes to update. Thanks for all the help. Extracted the file with 7-Zip but could not get it to burn the DVD and the dvd burner that comes with Windows did not do it correctly so I used The Ultimate Image Burner and it finally worked. Burn at 2X or 2.4X in my case and click verify copy in settings. There has to be a better way with all of today's technology but Jeep is about 10 years behind in that area.

Rock on!
