Same problem here, outside air reads 15-20 degrees lower that actual temperature. This causes the heated seats and steering wheel to come on until the sensor starts reading correctly. This morning it was 55 degrees outside and the sensor read 35 and it slowly increased and took about 15 minutes to reach the correct temperature.

Not normal. Mine works fine. Temp changes as soon as I back out of my garage.

I have a 2014 GC Summit with 1950 miles on it. OAT sensor is stuck on 81 degrees today even though the real OAT is 90.
Mine has done this three times over the last couple weeks. Hopefully a software update will fix it.

Sigh. It seems that my 12 Overland suffers (or has suffered) from every known problem, including this one. If theres a TSB, my Jeep most likely has the problem.
Temp today was showing 81, when it was barely 65 outside. Takes forever to adjust, you have to drive fast and for a long distance before it seems to register the correct temp. I've been noticing that the temp is way off and adjusting slower over the past few weeks.

This is hardly new technology, and the first vehicle I've ever owned to have this sensor problem.

"Ambient Air Temperature Slow To Update, Will Not Update, Or Inaccurate"

Slower ambient temperature updates, primarily noticed during lower speed stop and go driving or after the vehicle was driven and parked, engine off, for less than 4 hours and 15 minutes.

If the vehicle is started, within the off time period, the last known ambient temperature display strategy displays the last temperature at vehicle ignition off (or possibly a colder temperature than period up to 4 hours and 14 minutes later) and displays it.

Updated temperature readings will not update until the programmed speed and time criteria are met, this during low speed stop and go conditions can take in excess of 8 minutes to update. This ambient temperature display strategy is unique for the 2014 MY vehicles.

Therefore, if there are no diagnostic fault codes “Active” or “Stored” related to the ambient air temperature sensor no further updates or repairs will change the operation.

The ambient temperature display strategy will be updated with revised software update for 2014 MY vehicles and should be available fourth quarter of 2013.

Thanks for the update Milous and glad they are fixing this. It's a big problem for me now that summer is here and it's heating up quick. I drove into work yesterday with the temp. at 75F, then when I went out to lunch about 5 hours later it still displayed 75. The true reading should have been near 100, but it never updated since I didn't hit the driving requirements.

Thanks for the update. It doesn't seem like this strategy was well thought out.

On my 2012, it is pretty darn close. I compared to my other vehicles temp display and they match by a degree or less (sometimes, they are the same).

Thanks for the update. Seems odd though. We are expected up to 119 today and was curious the temp now.

My overland exhibits this issue too. It's annoying because I'd like for the vented seats to kick on whe it's been roasting in the car but they don't. I love black on black, but in NC in the summer, it's a problem.
You should be able to set it so the drivers vented seat comes on automatically when it's 80*+. It will only come on in the low setting though.
I have mine set this way but low is not effective so have to bump it to high anyway! Another goofy set up by Chrysler!

Could the low vented seat setting, along with low a/c fan setting be an attempt to keep power draw low while the engine is idling?

That certainly could be the case but I would think that some simple programming should allow for both fans to operate for a period of time on high even at idle. If at idle for say 5 or 10 min then auto reduce the fan settings to low. These things are supposed to be so smart but I wonder what the programmers are thinking some times? lol

The temp outside reading is useless. I usually park my car in a garage which is heated/cooled. The moment I pull out of my garage the temp reads 75F.

I went to store, came back (about let's say 10 minute drive) the temp still shows 75 even though it was 90+ outside.

On my 01 Pathfinder haven't had this type of an issue. The reading was spot on most of the time and was much faster to update. Seems like a step backwards for Jeep.

I get the same thing - always showing in the 70's with it near 100 out. My wrangler is always spot on.

I would love to read Chryslers logic as to why they designed the outside air temp reading to operate this way and not change as the temp changes.

I checked mine today. It said 77 when I started it up in the garage. By the time I left my development, about a half mile, it read 84.

This was 3 degrees lower than the local school was showing, and 3 degrees higher than Town Hall. Since I normally turn the screen off (the default on the MDX) that's close enough for me. When I need an accurate reading I open the window and stick my hand out.

I went on another trip today this time longer. After couple of minutes on hway temp strated to creep up 79, 82, 85,89, 92, 95. The valid temp should have been 90F+. I don't care about plus minus couple of F but 80F is not even remotly in the ballpark. If the senor is crap and needs like 30 minutes to show correct info than show N/A instead of some temp which is vastly disconnected from reality.
