Rocky-Road rock sliders - Good? Install reasonable? Or pick others.

I'm also looking at picking up some rock rails this summer. I had the Mopar factory installed on my 2017 TH (totalled) and the "new" 2020 TH doesn't have them. I've been a fan of the Chief Products stuff and have their additional skid plates. Seems like the install for the Chief rock rails is maybe a little more straight forward... but I've not done either. But Chief rock rails should be in the running. In looking at the Chief install instructions, there doesn't appear to be the drilling you are talking about. On ORA and Chief sites they have the install instructions there to download, I didn't see that at Rocky Road, maybe you could ask them to send them and see what the install looks like.

Rocky Road really haven't been in the running for me, at least yet. They don't do themselves any favors with the website design. It's really hard to tell much about the product. But I may try to look into them a little more. Would certainly be interested in your experience if you get them. It "seems" like the have a comparable rock rail, but would be nice to have more photos on the site of the different versions installed.

To me it just seems like the Chief and ORA stuff is a bit better thought out and designed than the RRO stuff (possibly 6 Monkeys, just haven't investigated as much). Also, the fact they won't provide install instructions ahead of time is odd. While it does appear that the RRO stuff may be constructed of thicker steel, this may not always be a good thing. In perusing the reviews on the Chief rails, Chief provided some insight as to why it isn't necessarily a good thing to have the rails too beefy. 6 Monkeys look decent as well, but I tend to like the looks of first the Chief and second the ORA ones. My good experiences wth the other Chief stuff has me also tending to that direction.

I am though trying to decide on the OEM style (Bare Bones on Chief) or with a step rail (No Tread on Chief). I had the Mopar rock rails on my previous TH and liked those. They stuck out just enough to step on (better with door open) and plenty of protection while keep a more streamlined look. Seems like the 6 Monkeys may not even stick out as much as the OEM, Chief, or ORA basic rails. I do like the look of the No Tread ones from Chief though, and they provide additional protection from door dings! But I don't need them for entry exit and wonder if they will be a hindrance to entry/exit.

RRO may be ok, but hard to make a good decision based on the info on the site. And, I haven't seen anyone on this site that's used them on a WK2; for what that's worth.
