UCONNECT ACCESS GOING AWAY

Has anyone else received the notification that UCONNECT ACCESS is going away as of 01 January, 2022? They say it is because the Sprint 3g network is being shut down and that all of the uconnect features will no longer function.

Does this mean the system will become nothing more than a glorified radio/XM? Will voice dialing, texting, navigation, etc all go away?

Shouldn't Jeep do something for those of us who will now be left with a useless (expensive) feature? The newer Jeeps are using Android Auto but the unit costs over $1500 from a 3rd party and I don't want to have to deal with the XM radio nightmare.. I purchased my 2015 in early 2016 from a dealer with less than 7k miles and the XM package was active already and has never been shut off.. ;) I'd hate to lose that.. :p

The 2018 models I mentioned ARE all affected as they all have the same Harmon-Kardon 3G headunit and can not be updated.
I purchased a T-Mobile Sync-Up drive on the advice of my dealer's Service Department. It didn't return ANY of the functionality of the Uconnect system that was lost by the 3G-4G changeover.
When I contacted Stellantis, they basically said that they didn't know who was giving out that information, as it was incorrect. Neither uConnect Access nor Sirius Guardian should be giving this advice to anyone. The Service Manager then confirmed to me that Stellantis did indeed say that nobody should be told to use the
T-Mobile SyncUp drive as it does not correct the issue.

There is a T-Mobile 4G adapter that works on the Grand Cherokees affected, but it does not restore full functionality to the UConnect, even though UConnect said it would do so when it was first released. I have never seen anything posted online that there was a fix for the Cherokee which is a totally different vehicle as has been previously mentioned in this thread.

The UConnect features available on the Grand Cherokee with this module are:

Remote Vehicle Start Theft Alarm Notification
Cancel Remote Start
Remote Horn & Lights
Remote Door Unlock
Vehicle Finder
Remote Door Lock
Stolen Vehicle Assistance
4G Wi-Fi Hotspot

Things like reading your text messages and sending them through UConnect are gone.
