So i know i need an alignment but i noticed that there's excess brake dust on my driver side wheel and when i looked closer it seems that the driver's side brake pad is worn much further than the passenger side. Would a bad alignment cause this? Or do I have an underlying brake problem that needs to be addressed?

I am not sure if an alignment problem would cause brakes to wear funny, but I know a bad caliper would. Do you hear any squeaks or rubbing noises from the brakes?
Check and clean your calipers. They are not working properly.

I just replaced both my front calipers...Napa's got some good prices. If yours has the Teves calipers, this would be the PERFECT time to upgrade to Akebonos. The Napa ones come already painted black too. Replace pads while you're at it since you're uneven now, and you'll need to bleed the brakes. $100 bought me both calipers.
