WL 2025 GC Summit Hands Free ADA Rarely Works

Picked up my new 2025 GC Summit less than a month ago and the hands-free ADA rarely works, even though I'm driving on roads that are on the Jeep map of "known" roads. When I turn it on it typically says "No Road Information" (which is not the same as "Unknown Road"). In certain areas it will consistently never engage, while in others it may engage for a mile or 2, then without warning disengages and warns me to put my hands on the wheel immediately. Dealer has been no help at all (long story there...at first they actually tried to tell me that my GC doesn't have hands free ADA...when it's right there on the window sticker and I paid $3000 for it). I'm wondering if my experience is typical and hands-free ADA just doesn't work very well, or if there's actually something wrong with my vehicle. Anybody else have better luck with it?

Hi Brian, we ordered a 2025 Jeep GC Summit Reserve in May 2025, specifically with the $3000 Hands Free Driving option. It went into production mid-July and we picked it up on Aug 8. The reason I am telling you this is it may help with mfg. or software build dates.
I noticed first time trying the HF ADA that it said “No Road Information Available.” It was a divided highway. Next tried several sections of I-80. I know that is on approved list. Still no luck getting it to work. Called Jeep Connect and they said I need to activate services… needed the Jeep App and a Unconnect account (Note neither dealer nor I had done that). More reading on my part says you have to have an active Jeep Connect (powered by UConnect) for HF ADA to get map/road information. so we activated live over the phone and down loaded the App. Still no workie.
I called Jeep Connect later the same day and they said I said “give it 24 hours to sync up”…. eeeeeh wrong again. Called dealer, they said stop by it was probably something set wrong on the radio or operator error… nope wrong again.
I set up a service appointment and we sat for three hours, finally got a loaner. Tech said the the Active Lane keeping function was working fine and it is safe to drive… that is not the point. The HF ADA is not working. It needs to be fixed.
Tech said he will research it more. So my 2week old Jeep sits at dealer this weekend And I with their loaner.

Yes, did everything correct per manual and video’s. It is flat out not working. So far as I know, no error codes were found by Jeep Master service Tech. He said this will take more research.
Brian, a couple more things to add here. Dealer told me they have driven hands free even on Some lesser traveled highway in a new Ram pickup and it worked like a champ. I did try a radio reset (holding volume and tuner buttons in for 10-20 sec)… no fix. It is like Jeep/UConnect is not communicatief to my Jeep.
I just called UConnect again today as dealer suggested. They said Hands Free Service was active and turned on. Nothing wrong on their end.
Funny thing, I just rechecked the Jeep App on my phone. Now my garage and dashboard show “UConnect One, and Hands Free Active.” I did not see that before. Hummm was something screwed up at UConnect???
I will need to call dealer service tomorrow and tell them to check HF ADA now that active for sure. Peace Out

Thanks for posting. It looks like Level 3 is the next step beyond HF ADA, but I agree it does seem to indicate Stellantis is, at the very least, slowing its roll. It's galling to have paid $3K for something that clearly doesn't work, and you can't even fall back to hands-on ADA.

So the report is on the newest Level3 Active Driving Assit which is autonomous driving system not realiseren yet. The system we are talking about here is Level 2+. Hands Free ADA but is not the autonomous system. Two very different things.
BTW my HF ADA is still not working. Also noted that built in Nav is not working, can’t find know good adressen. Dealer is checking within their chain of command on what is next... escelate to STAR!?!? Dealer also suggested that I contact Jeep Customer service to get a trouble ticket opened.

I have the 2025 JGC Summit Reserve and same issue. I reported to Jeep Connect immediately and yesterday I was informed that there is an update to resolve the known issue, but I need to take it to the dealership for the update. Has to do with the wireless connection apparently (mine won't let me create a password in the wifi setup as it defaults "null" in the place of any password I try to set up). It also affects the HUD, connection to my SiriusXM account, and several other "advanced features" that come along with the vehicle. I was just notifed 9/3 that the fix is available. But my local Jeep dealer (2 in the city) is at least 1 month out taking new service appointments b/c of the number of Jeep vehicles being brough in with problem. I actually just turned in a 2023 Grand Wagoneer b/c of all the problems it had and went back to the Grand Cherokee as I've been driving them since 1999. I've had 4 different Jeeps in 6 years and everything post covid has been very disappointing. This new Grand Cherokee will likely be my last which breaks my heart b/c before now, I have LOVED every one I've owned. Good luck with your! But check with Jeep Connect and your dealer for the fix just released this week!

Exactly same here. I have a star case open with Chrysler. They sent a fix to my dealership, but alas, it was for a 2025 RAM 1500. Not for GC Summit Reserve. And that was after it sat at dealership for a week. Been driving Jeeps for over 25 years and I've gone thru 4 and 1 Grand Wagoneer since just after Covid. This will be my last Jeep. Ever. Sigh.

So far I have found my TomTom Nav is not updating and not configured correctly. White scenes are from a2025 Jeep GC summit with HF ADA at dealer. hF works perfect on I 80 interstate. Black screen is mine. I now have a Star case number open for two weeks. Still no action from Uconnect.

nflalotico, did that module show an error code.? Mine all show good,no codes. Dealer here is in suburb of Omaha. They said the have seen a few cases of HF ADA not working, but not a trend. I read on Stalentis site somewhere that they made changes on what features were bundled with UConnect in July 2025. That is when mine was built. But you would think that would be an easy fix.

You can download the latest maps for free
and update via USB if you have a large flash drive. Not saying that’ll solve any issues.

I have the same “services not active” in the activate services following a rest of my uconnect system, even though evening works — remote control and in car hotspot etc.

Jeep has given me TSB number 08 113 25 to take to the dealer for a uconnect update. Not sure what it entails unfortunately, but my original reason for opening the case was vehicle health reports/updates stopped working after the uconnect reset.
