I'm disappointed with the digital rear mirror at night. I don't understand why it's so grainy at night, along with light halos around the headlights from other vehicles. Depending on the lights from other vehicles the mirror literally almost just turns completely yellow/white a lot while driving around. During the day, I can see other vehicles in HD.
Do others have the same problem?
Is there a fix for it?

Is your rear window/camera clean? (I don't know where the camera for this is located on the JGC...it's inside the glass on my Subaru) I know that affects the digital rear view in my personal vehicle but otherwise, it's a pretty clear view. "Grainy" can come from the need to light-boost and the quality of the camera being used plays into that.

Yeah, its dark, and real time, so you need a lot of light. I only use it when the rear has stuff blocking the actual real mirror, then even if it sucks, it is much better than zero vision. Also if it is dirty, the rear camera washer will wash that camera as well. (if equipped)

Mine works great, and I use it 100% of the time. Once used to the wider view and better clarity, it's hard to go back. I've even switched back and forth in bad weather, at night, etc, and what you see out the back window vs with the camera is never better.

I can see where one might think it can be a little grainy in low light, but what you actually see in those situations is better than a black window with 2 bright spots from the headlights behind you.

I didn't find mine to have a lousy image, but I rarely use it anyway.

The digital mirror has a potentially troublesome flaw if you have bifocals. When you look at an image in a real mirror, the focus is far away (where the object is). When you look at an image in the digital mirror, it is close - I have to tilt my head back slightly to get a clear image. So I just leave it off unless I really need the perspective.

I changed your statement to match me. I "need" them, just don't wear them.
I'm at the stage where I can see perfectly anything I can't touch. I don't wear anything when driving, but bifocals would help with the steering wheel and displays a bit. And yeah, looking up at something close is bad, even worse at night (for focusing reasons, not display itself).
And even if I do have readers on, the whole muscle memory of your eyeballs learning to focus 1' away, not 1000' away takes some adjustment. But that extra viewing angle is amazing when/if I need to use the digital rearview mirror.

My camera is clean ... I tried wiping it and using windshield washer fluid as well. It doesn't change anything. Can someone post what their looks like at night?
Using the back mirror option with the dimmer option turned on, it looks great and I can see everything clearly.

May not be worth anything, but I agree mine could be better. I don’t think mine is as bad yours but will take a pic next time driving at night.

I swear my auto dimming only works half the time. Sometimes the driver mirror doesn’t dim over and sometimes it does dim. My 2014 WK2 always dims. Perhaps this can impact night time driving and how the rest view mirror works?

I will agree with this, but I do use the feature 100% of the time in my vehicle and over a relatively short period of time, my eyes and slight head movements (I wear progressives) adapted and I've had zero focus issues since. Maybe I'm unique, however, but it's worked well for me and I miss it every time I drive our other vehicle. (which is frequently for reasons I'll not go into here)

Are you speaking of the outside driver-side mirror not dimming? I've been wondering this myself and trying to figure out if it is working. It doesn't seem to dim it as much as other vehicles. Again, I'm talking about the outside driver-side mirror auto-dimming

Looks like junk

Take it to the dealer and get it fixed

Call JeepCares

Mine looks like that at night too. It’s just a feature of cameras in low light. They’re going to be grainy. Even the manual talks about using it at night:

Seriously? Looks like to be expected, it works, nothing to fix. Unless you expect them to design, approve, and give you an updated camera that doesn't exist?

Well here are two comparisons. One at dusk and one at night. I can’t see how even a “grainy” image is worse than the regular mirror. You can see so much more with the digital.
Thank you, I agree, it is an improvement/enhancement. It allows you to see MORE than the glass mirror. And if you have a full car of cargo/people, then it allows you to see, period.

Also it's a must feature when you get your windows tinted on top of the factory privacy glass. Can barely see anything other than headlights

Correct. Outside drivers mirror. My 2014 is always on at night. It seems like it takes high beams for it to turn on and then it goes away for the 2022.
I did have my dealer check it out and said it was working as expected.

But I do agree that even if it’s a bit grainy, it’s better than the actual mirror at night.
