WL-- Firewall pass through for WL

Does anyone know the best way to get some wire through the firewall on a WL (2022 Summit)? I'm installing a dashcam with a battery voltage monitor that keeps the cameras recording in park mode while monitoring the battery voltage and shutting down if if it gets too low. Anyway, I need access to the fuse block for switched and unswitched taps.

I'm also on the search for a Firewall pop-through. Needing to tap into one of the footwell lights to try and add a light to the charge port.

If I find something, I will try and let you know.

To the original poster, does it have to be direct to the battery, or can you just go directly to the hot leading to the fuse block under the dash or under the seat? Wouldn't that give you the same voltage readout that you SHOULD see across the battery terminals?

Also... for others wondering, the 12v battery for the GC 4XE is under the spare tire in the rear and what is called the interior fuse panel and found under the rear seats in the ICE is in the back driverside panel in the 4XE. Same fuse layout but with a few add-ins for various PHEV components.

I would still like to find a firewall pass-through for a different project tho.

Answering my own question with this post. Thought it better to make a solution-titled post.

Nice!

I'll take a look if this is also works for the 4XE. The 4xe engine bay has a little more plastic body panels all over to make up for the lack of engine filling in under the hood and adds a few more high voltage pieces.

What did you use to fish the line through?

From the outside...

I'm very surprised how open that is...

Also, I haven't looked into it, but how do you open that hatch from the inside. Our old 2103 GC was pretty straight forward with an obvious tab. Either side of the box looks a little more complicated with the latch situation on the WLs.

Yeah, I stared at that door for several minutes trying to figure out how to open it. On the left side of the door there are two little horizontal tangs. Pinch them together (top to bottom) and it will pop open that side. The right side is just a tab/slot that comes loose as you pull the door off.

Just fingers, it's light pressure.

Wife has the jeep today, I'll give it a shot later.

Going to use some lighter gauge (18+ Awg) to hook up an LED to the charge port so the smaller wire should feed easily and not cause much of an issue at the door seal.

My challenge will be routing the wire to the driver side dodging everything else.

You can run UP the passenger side A pillar, ACROSS to the driver side in the headliner, and then DOWN the driver side A pillar, coming out at the kick panel next to the driver's foot. It's very easy, you don't need to pop any panels or anything, just squeeze the wires in behind each one.

I ran my dashcam wires in the same manner as above. The power wire we're talking about now went from the rearview mirror to the firewall. The the rear cam wire along the headliner to the back, but could have down the driver A pillar to the kick panel.

The 4xe charge port is in the front driver side quarter panel. I have to run the wire out to the front engine bay and over to the driver side quarter.

It's lacking any kind of light which can be solved easily with a small LED light. Tapping into the footwell light under the cabin filter should be easy enough. That way the lught in the charge port will turn on and off (and even dim to off) with the interior lighting.

Not passenger side, but a member over on the 4xe forum went the extra step and used the hood latch release grommet with relative ease on passing wires.
