I had my car in the dealership for an issue with CarPlay over USB where it would continually disconnect and reconnect. Made phone calls very difficult as the call would just pause, switch from the stereo to the phone, CarPlay would disconnect, then reconnect, then I could continue with the call. Same thing with navigation. I worked with the dealership, but they couldn't figure anything out and could not replicate it. Eventually I debugged the issue myself and was able to get the dealership to replicate. Now it's easily replicated on any Jeep Wrangler (2024+) with any of the phones or IOS versions we have tried.
Steps to replicate:
1) Disable wifi on the phone.
2) Plug USB cable in to phone and center console (also works on dash USB).
3) Do not allow CarPlay over WIFI.
4) Navigate somewhere using Apple Maps, and/or place a phone call.
5) Wait a bit and the CarPlay connection will disconnect. Stereo will go back to the Uconnect screen. Icon where CarPlay was shown on left of screen will show the phone icon to connect a phone. Stereo will re-initiate CarPlay connection in ~5 seconds.
@JeepCares hoping someone can report this bug. The dealership doesn't fully understand what's happening (they are confused about WiFi working on the stereo versus the router in the dealership), so they don't understand how I was able to get their phones to replicate. The customer cares folks said they can't report bugs, only talk to the dealerships. I can't seem to get anything to work through the Jeep phone system either.
