Not hard to bend. But you'll need to double flare the ends which requires a flaring tool.
Never heard of a brakeline rusting out that soon!!

 

Oh...LOL...I guess it's the 2001 not the 2011.
I did a brakeline repair once. It was successful but never again. Too messy.

 

You'll have to repair it. The oem line was installed before the drivetrain and is one piece from master cylinder to rear control arm with lots of bends. You'll never get the new one in without destroying it. I tried and failed

 

Cheapjeep: how did you go about replacing it? did you do the entire line or cut out the bad section only? what was your part/tool list?

 

I did the whole thing from abs to rear control arm but in 2 pieces instead of 1 and nowhere near all those funky factory bends.

1. 1 6' section of standard 3/16" standard brake line.
2. 1 5' section of 3/16" standard line with a bubble flare adapter for the abs side.
3. 1 3/16" union(specify union not compression fitting)
Tools: You need a good quality double flaring tool like Craftsman etc.No auto parts store or Harbor Freight cheapie(found this out the hard way),tubing cutter,top quality wrench set(preferably line wrenches)brake fluid,pb blaster and a brake bleeder or buddy to help bleed the brakes.
Do the longer rear section first. You should be able to bend it to fit in all the original clamps. It should end in front of the tranny cross member which is a good accessible place for the union. Install the bubble flare adapter in the abs. Now do the top piece from the abs to your new line using the old line as a rough pattern for a few bends up top to get it heading down along the firewall.You don't need all those funky bends along the frame rail just straight down to your other piece. Try to hit at least 1 clamp though. Once you make it to your rear line cut of the excess from the front line,PLACE THE FITTING FROM THE CUT OFF PIECE OVER THIS LINE AND THEN FLARE IT!! Install the union bleed the brakes and have a beer!

dealer should have it in stock, have part number from receipt at home, you can call and describe it as the hard line from MC to rear, under driver side. They will know what it is, and its about 17$. I can be done without bending it to hell, just be patient.

You might be able to do that on your 4.0 because you have way more clearance but on a v8 wj like the op's and mine there is zero room to maneuver all those bends through there.

 

I tried for hours to get that damn thing in there and finally had it so bent out of shape I smashed it up into a ball and threw it in the garbage:lol:

 

They make some brake line that will never rust out. Well it's not supposed to. I would look into buying that instead of the common metal line.

 

I was just browsing when I came across this old post. Dorman makes a stainless steel replacement set that is complete and easy to install. Put one on my 99WJ. Hope this helps someone.

You bet! I ordered from Rock Auto. Dorman #919239. This is listed under brakes, hydraulic lines. It includes every line from the master cyl. down to the flex hoses. A little tricky to get some in but not too bad. I was a happy clam.
