Exhaust Y-Flex Pipe Leaking

I have not seen this issue with any of my searches, nor have I heard about this from my 5 years of being on this forum.

On the way home from work last night, I thought I heard a vehicle next to me that had a obvious exhaust leak. Every time I came to a stop, the sound went away. I accelerated, and the noise got louder. Once I realized it was me, I turned off the radio and heard the sound from right underneath where the seats are.

When I got home, I crawled under the Jeep, and noticed that there was a crack where the passenger down-pipe met the flex pipe. I dropped the Jeep at the dealer this AM and was told that they would take a look. I am also having them take a look at the belt tensioner/idler pulley for the squeal when it is cold outside.

I am still waiting for the dealer to call back...Just wanted to document this in case anyone else runs into the same exhaust problem. The Cleveland winters no-doubt have played a role in the crack, but I do have the unlimited warranty, so we'll see what they have to say about this.

Once I hear back, I give the low-down...

The dealer replaced all three pipes under warranty.

Hopefully the Browns will play to all the hype. I am optimistic about the season, but without playing any games yet, we'll see how the season goes...

Did you ever hear back about the flex pipe issue? I also have the unlimited warranty and wondering if they’re going to cover it? 🤞🏻

Rusting at the flex pipe (1 if you have the 4cyl Tigershark Engine, 2 flex pipes if the 3.2 V6) is very common. Note, there's an aftermarket Walker replacement pipe if you end up needing to get it replaced and the extended warranty doesn't cover it. Much less expensive than the original Jeep (Mopar) part.
