How Do I Remove this clip?

Was working on removing my rear bumper today but ran into some probs. It is this clip or fastener that i cant seem to get off. I did step 1-3 and i believe the clip i took is the push pin fasteners? How the hell do i get that off? I can twist it, i assume counter clockwise to loosen it. Does it come off?

On wkjeeps the instruction states:

1. Open the liftgate.
2. Remove the four push pin fasteners (3) and 2 screws (2) at the step pad area.
3. Remove the plastic rivets at the wheel wells (1).
4. Remove the two push pin fasteners and remove the rear wheel splash shields.
5. Remove the nuts (1) at the back sides of the
quarter panels (2).

does anyone know if i need to remove the rear wheels to get the rear bumper removed?

not yet, i only removed the 4 fasteners and 2 screws at the liftgate area and the 3 rivets that holds the wheel wells.

I had trouble finding that dam nut at the backside of the quarter panel but im assuming that is visible after the splash shields are off?

now...its to the right of that fastner pictured. Lay on the ground....reach up at the very corner of the rear bumper(corner that meets with the rear 1/4 panel) and the nut is there. Thats one reason the bumper will not unclip from that fastner.

is that rusty bolt what was under the fender liner???

cause you do have to remove the liner to get the bumper on and off......

i think you need to pull it out a but on the sides, the first pic looks disconnected like scott said......that flat thing kind of holds the corner on......

you got to peel it like an onion LOLOLOL

that bolt is not it. I was thinking it was a nut....but maybe its a bolt? I cant remmeber. been so long. But there is a nut or bolt at each corner of the bumper. Its just to the right of that bolt yoy are showing in the pic. Its behind that bracket...right in the pointy part of the bumper. Its hard to explain

Rob, im not sure. the fender liner is the plastic around the wheel well or the plastic part between the bumper and that metal frame to the right? (pictured below)

the nut/bolt/screw i need to remove are from those holes on the bumper right? cause im sure the 2 screws/bolt/nut are what is in its place on my bumper right now.

ok...so i read that those 2 screws are not to be removed...ill take a look again..SOB!

#13 ·
yeah...those two screws hold that plastic bracket to the corner of the bumper skin. There is a bolt that goes through that bracket and into the quarter panel.

yep, thanks again Scott! Appreciate the help as always! Feeling good bout myself atm lololol

i ws pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. I almost gave up and called a shop for an estimate to do it. Quoted $100 and no way for just 2 bolts removed lol.

Now i have the SRT cats/tip and the bumper inside and heading towards American Muffler to get my rear done :D

Went to American Muffler in Westbury to get it done. Everything went in smoooth expect they broke the o2 sensor. Gave me a good price and explain everything to me before they went to work so a $20-30 part i will take care off. Will install it back after i get it but i just might do it myself if it, isnt that hard.

Now the setup is...OEM SRT Catback with the reso's and tips. I was going to go with some sort of aftermarket muffler but just wanted everything in for now. TO be honest, it's a bit louder than a stock but the startup sounded pretty good. On the highway, there's a lil drone but im not concerned. I really was hoping to get some pics, but the o2 sensor is bothering me lol, i need to get that clear for peace of mind lol.

i hear you it was like 8 degrees round here all day. and of course i had to work outside all day.

hurry the hell up with those pics!

yep, my neighbor thought i was crazy working out there. As long as there's no wind, the cold temps doesnt bother me. Ill try and get some pics tonight when i go to my cousin's indoor garage to align the bumper again. Im still missing the rear fogs so thinking if i should pull a MIKE and cover it with cellophane :D

#25 ·
wow...so that o2 sensor is a bit more expensive than i thought.....

Looking good bro. Get those pictures posted already. I also didn't have the rear fogs when I installed the rear bumper. I only bought them like 2 weeks later and then dropped them off at the shop to tint the fogs. I didn't cover the holes with anything. Hopefully we get some warm weather sometime soon so we can have a meet.
