Greetings all,
One of my best early memories with jeeps took place along the East/West German Border, where I was stationed with the 2nd Armored Cavalry in the 1970's. We were on a joint patrol with our West German counterparts. They were very proffesional and all around good guys, but their "german jeeps" were pitiful when trying to keep up with us. It finally got to the point where we kept our tow cables connected so we wouldn't have to stop so often to pull out of some mud hole. We all had a great time and yes, there was beer at the end of the trail, which ended with our German commrades having to drag our Yankee asses back to the barracks.
