My free Sirius almost over on my WK2, not sure if I will be renewing with them again for my money. Besides Howard I didnt find anything else much intertaining. Mostly poor sound quality, songs repeating all the time, etc. I wish they become free but for now I am not going to renew.
I guess thanks to Jeep paying for year better than any other cars I own. What about you? iPod solution works, what else?

Not sure the $4/month Sirius Traffic surcharge is worth it, though. It covers only selected urban interstates, and so far, with us at any rate, it has been largely wrong with its warnings.

I turned mine off on my last trip,it keep rerouting me when there was no traffic jams and adding miles to my trip. I would never renew the traffic service from Sirius it's the worst. As for the music service, I have had that for five years. I will call them right before it expires and they always give me a better deal, then what is advertised.:D

Rarely listen to sirius, I find nothing of much interest there or not better than those available on free outlets. I've been filling my commute with pod casts, much better quality shows. Base on my last customer service experience; being on hold for over an hour and then lied to, and the thousands of complaints being lodged, I will never sign up. Their traffic is no better or worse than other traffic services, nearly always wrong. So if you are listening to local radio for traffic updates and news, why bother with Sat radio.

If you do sign up, do not opt for the auto renewal. The most consumer complaints seems to be that it its almost impossible to cancel. You call, they transfer you to an retention agent, you are either on hold for an hour or the call gets dropped.... really bad customer service, except for those times you are buying something...

I have had Sirius subscription for about 7 years (on auto renewal). When I picked up my Jeep, I called to cancel my subscription (since I got a free year). It took all of 5 mins. I was on hold for 2 mins tops, and then another 2 to cancel. I DID NOT give them the SID fro my new receiver. Told them I'd call back when the free subscription was expired. I may have gotten lucky, who knows. AS for the programming, I have always loved the music. I can't stand having to search for FM stations as they come in and out of range. SOund quality varies depending on the station. More popular stations have better sound quality. I would assume they use more band with or something. I moslty listen to classic rock. I love classic rewind, vinyl, and lithium. I hate to admit it, but I also listen to the coffee house from time time, then pop over to the boneyard to regain my man status. Oh, Hair nation is cool too. And, Alt Nation... and Octane. :)

I originally got Sirius for Howard, but I go through phases with him. Right now, he's out... I don't care about America's got talent!

Yeah I will for sure be renew the sirius. ESPN & Howard Stern are worth it for me. Being on the east coast of Canada the radio selection blows so it is a no brainer. Also being able to drive for more than an hour without losing a stations signal is totally worth it.

I have never tried the sirius traffic, I don't even think they have it for Canada. I doubt I would ever use this feature.

We now have Sirius/XM in both cars and also on the home receiver. We love the commercial free music and the variety. As mentioned above, do not auto-renew or they will charge you full price. Instead, a couple weeks prior to expiration, call and ask them how much the renewal will be. When they give you the full-boat price, tell them you will cancel unless you can get a discount. They will transfer you to a different agent who will most likely give you a deeply discounted price to renew. I am paying about $140/year for two radios and the Jeep is free this year, of course. I don't use the traffic enough to justify renewing it next year but I might consider keeping Travel Link if it's not too expensive.

I just got off the phone with Sirius this morning and renewed two radios, each with 6 months free. All you have to do is threaten to cancel and they will give you half off their price.

Sirius "customer service" is downright junk. I've been a customer for 6+ years now, and really enjoy the programming. But I am sorry: the people you have to talk to about a service renewal, billing issue, etc are just painful to talk to. Usually, english is their second (or third) language, and they usually sport an IQ the level of a waisted high school moron.

To answer your question: yes, I will renew - but not the "sirus traffic" portion. You will still get the traffic/weather channel with your subscription, and that is sometimes usefull.

Yes I will renew as I did on my 2009 Dodge Ram Laramie when its free year was up. I bought the Ram in May 2009 and purchased a lifetime subscription for $399 plus taxes (total was $492 with taxes and royalty fees) in May 2010. I have heard the cost for lifetime is now $699 but I plan on telling them either they give me the same price I paid in 2010 or I walk. I've bought three lifetime subscriptions from them from 2008 through 2010 and paid $399 plus taxes and fees each time so no way am I going to pay $699 plus fees and taxes.

And you are all right on the customer service...it's terrible!

Pandora is currently great alternative; they will eventually kill satellite radio. Internet is any place available now over phones.
There is no way I would renew that subscription the quality is very poor, they still have DJ's yapping away which is almost as bad as a commercial, and I swear they only have 40 songs in their library.

I too stream pandora! Best thing out there right now!

I let my subscription lapse as I knew I was trading my old vehicle in for my new GC and I really missed it. If you are just commuting local stations are fine but for longer trips where you have to keep searching for stations it really pays off.
I called and cancelled mine before the subscription ran out but didn't receive any special offers for lower rates however several of my friends have received them after letting their service run out.

I have had XM since it first came out. Bought a car and home kit.
I agree the sound is mediocre, but the fact that I can travel in different provinces and states, while listening to my same rock stations is key.

Since XM & Sirius merged I noticed immediately that the talk (chatter) increased, which annoys me.
However I'll still renew.

When I want quality sound, I pop in DVD's for the 5.1 surround sound experience which is far better than FM, Satellite, CD, MP3 or cassette.
(obviously the cassette is gone in the GC, but still have it in my Pacifica)

Now if only I could get my turntable to stop skipping when I'm driving
I'd really have some quality sound) :D

No way. They attempted to auto renew me without my permission on my JKU...using a credit card that I just so happened cancelled the week before. Prior to auto renewing, i could not get someone on the phone; after the card expired, they called me...you can imagine the fun I had with that call. Their business practices borders on extortion...no way im doing business with a company that probably hires collection agents with brass knuckles as their customer service reps!

I definitely don't want auto-renewal.

My credit card allows me to generate virtual card numbers with specific credit limit and expiration date.

If I give them a card number that expires in 2 months - can they try to use it to renew it a year later without contacting me (they wouldn't know this is a "virtual" card and may assume I already received replacement with the same number)? Attempt for renewal will fail of course but I don't want to deal with collections.

I will not renew mine. I stream pandora or listen to my mp3's on my Atrix, no need for sat radio anymore. Even listening to radio stations over the internet on the phone is better. I can listen to my local radio stations with an aux cable (using the built in eq so sound quality is better) from anywhere.

I hate paying for stuff that I can get better for free. :)
