Front Parking sensor going crazy.

My wife was driving our 2017 summit today and when stopped at the red light and nothing in front of her, the front sensor parking warning kept coming up. I drove the car yesterday and I didn't have this issue. Today is icy out there...could it be the front sensor got ice on it or something? I'll see if I can recreate the problem tonight when she get back home. My concern is that my car recently had work done on the air suspension due to an issue where the air lines were coming out through the front well liner...are the front sensors anywhere near there?

The front parking sensors are directly attached to the front bumper, behind where you see them on the bumper exterior. They are pretty small. The wiring runs across the bumper and originates from behind the passenger side fog light area. Try cleaning the sensors with a damp towel. If that doesn't fix the issue, take it to the dealer. These sensors are very reliable IMO. The rear parking sensors on the 2006 Commander in our family still work great.

Yeah usually it's just a sensor got dirty or especially during winter covered in ice, snow, or whatever. Most likely not an issue.
The other day driving home from work my radar sensor got covered in enough snow to where it had to disengage adaptive cruise control. No biggy.

I am hoping it's just something simple as an icing issue...then again if that's the case that's just ridiculous that every time there's snow/ice I will have to turn the sensors off...also it seems it only does it when the car is fully stopped. Once it starts moving the warnings go away.

Well I can't say I have ever had to turn mine off through Chicago winters so it's really not that big of a deal. If it beeps a couple times because some snow is stuck to it whatever. Not only that but Jeep did a great job allowing volume control of the beeps and the beeps are a very nice soft tone. I think I have mine set to low and even if they do beep it's not bothersome at all.
As far as it only happening when you are stopped, I think that's because the system is designed to only work at very slow speeds or stopped.

a few times i the month and a half i owned it when it snow they say clean sensors and turns itself off although one time i was backing out when snowing and it wouldnt let me go. said brake and applied the brakes. on other cars ive had in the past with the rear parking sensors they had the same snow problem.

I had that happen 2-3 weeks ago coming home in the rain. Got to a red light, stopped and suddenly the front park sensors in the DID went crazy. Steady tone, red and the indicator made it look like I had the front bumper against something. Not an object in front of me... a wide open intersection.

I just shook my head and took off when the light turned green, then it stopped going off.

Got this message today with some of the sensors covered in snow. So apparently it does know when you need to clean the sensors ;)
Hmmm... I'd assume then there'd be a message like that for dirty front sensors?

Never got one before or after my front park sense warning lit up. That's twice I've had that happen... both times dark out and raining.

LOL... and for as pigged up with salt as the rear of my HA is, I still haven't gotten a message like that.

I have a hitch carrier I was using to haul water to some seedlings we planted at the church. Extreme drought around here until recently. I was watering every other day so I just kept the water tank installed. The water tank was blocking the sensors and it beeped when backing up the first few times but then disengaged the sensors after awhile. Once I was able to remove the tank this winter the sensors turned back on. Pretty neat.

Happened to me last Saturday, as we had snow/ice here. Ice was covering the sensor part of the front bumper cover. Cleaned that off, all good. No problems since. This also used to happen on my 04 Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer, on the reverse sensors.

Hey,

Have you found a fix for the Front Park Sensor? I have got a 2015 Summit and I'm facing the same issue.

The dealer replaced the sensor module and also replaced two of the right front sensors but the issue remain unsolved.

The alert goes crazy and showing there is an object close to front right bumper.

Hi mbazzaz,

I'm sorry to hear about this! The sensor just goes off randomly with no visible prompting?

This is just another example of the poor build quality of Jeeps. Very disappointing. I've owned several brands with parking sensors that were never triggered by snow. I mean seriously? Do they not realize a car is exposed to outside elements? Pathetic

I've had my 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo for about 18 months. The front sensors have never worked which wasnt a problem. Now theyve suddenly started going crazy.. There is no OFF button on my dashboard. Ive tried covering them with tape which has helped but not fixed it completely. Seems to be somewhat affected by temperature too. If its cold they just go off continually. Warm or hot not quite so much. I just want to kill the damned things off.. There is no facility in the Uconnect menu.. Any suggestions would be welcome..

I have a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit and my Front Parking Sensor System Needs Service message goes on and then goes off. It’s working while on but sometimes it turns off and gives the message that Front parking system needs service.. Any advice would be helpful.
