Gate ajar malfunction

Hi-- I am having the same problem with both my 2010 kk and wk so I assume that they share the same part. The gate ajar warning comes on intermittently when the tailgate is closed on both jeeps and the interior lights come on. The rear window won't open and if the jeep is parked the alarm goes off. Eventually it goes away. Any thoughts? I'm hoping there is a tsb to address this. Thanks!

I had the WK at the dealership to have new tires mounted and balanced and an oil change and had them look at it. It was over $300 to repair the sensor so they simply disconnected it. All the problems went away. The only issue is the tailgate ajar light won't come in if the gate really is ajar and the interior lights don't come on when you open the tailgate, although you just need to hit unlock on the key fob to take care of that. The issue seems to have gone away on the Liberty on its own.
