Has anybody installed the 4G adaptor for the Uconnect system?

I was told the same thing. It seems to work as advertised, but I haven't used any of the data yet and probably won't until I travel. Unfortunately, right now, traveling is out because of my back problems.

That 4G adapter only appears to serve as a hotspot. Not a fix for integrating with the Jeep head unit in order to function for uConnect.
Not according to UConnect. They are selling the adapter coupled with the UConnect services.

So I could conceivably swap my 2016 radio for a 2018 one and use this 4g adapter to enable my uconnect?
I think there are other differences between the 2016 and the 2018 that would cause problems there.

Hi, I just got my adapter yesterday and it seems to work OK. I can see and sign onto the network and get a usable signal, but I have had no luck in being able to change the SSID and default password. Even from a device signed into the WiFi, the button on the mopar website to get to the WiFi settings is always grayed out. Clicking on it does nothing. Anyone else encounter this and resolve it?

I spoke to a UConnect rep about this in May. He told me that this feature won't be available until 3G is shut down and the entire system is ported to the 4G system and expected this to occur shortly after the start of the year.

Only some of the services
No, they changed the parameters after they started selling the units. I think that they thought it would all transfer at first, but hadn't tested the system thoroughly. That's as bad as the potential initial misrepresentation of what it would do, as I asked those questions when I bought it.

REALLY, maybe I should try that

Worst "update" or whatever they are calling this move
Sounds like I will be stopping my UConnect subscription as I never use the remote start stuff with it. I used the Send 'N' Go frequently and the voice to text intermittently and will miss those.

When you say voice commands, what is included with the loss of function there? The phone is connected to the system with Bluetooth and voice calling should still work. Heck, that works on my MX5 and CX5 which don't have cellular connectors at all - just the Bluetooth link.

Send n Go

I completed the software upgrade last week. I use the Send n Go feature on a regular basis and didn't think much about it until I read comments here saying that it would not work even after the upgrade.

I tried it today picking a location in another city. Twice my Uconnect app told me the request failed. An hour later I went out to my Jeep GC 2017 and when I started the engine the display screen said "Send n Go" has two new locations. Do you want to go there now?" (Or very similar words)

So phone app said it failed but it actually worked. Another bug for the Uconnect staff. :)
After my last message, I sent an Unlock order from my cell phone which said it failed. I went out to the garage and the Jeep was unlocked.

Can someone help me with this problem? I had to have a factory warranty replacement radio installed in April 2022, by the dealer. Since then UCONNECT cannot see my jeep at all. They have to pull up my info from my phone # and go from there. They can see that the radio was replaced, but cannot see any of the info. I have shut off my UCONNECT service and got a refund because NO ONE can figure out what is wrong with it. I have asked more than once if it was because my Jeep was 3G .. and no one can give me a good answer. I have asked UCONNECT several times about the 4G adapter.. and everyone seems clueless and has no idea what I'm talking about ... HELP!! who have you talked to at UCONNECT to get yours??
You don't say what year your Grand Cherokee is, but, since it is 3G, you won't get all of the UConnect features that were available in the past. The 4G adapter provides you with a full time hotspot; allows for remote locking, unlocking, and starting; and allows for vehicle tracking and theft notifications. The other features such as sending text messages through the system are gone with it. On the other hand, without it, you have a nice radio.

I don't understand why UConnect cannot use bluetooth or USB to send the text messages since that's the way it's done in most other vehicles, but I assume it was to make you more inclined to subscribe to their service.

When they changed the radio out, they should have changed the database to show the new radio in the vehicle. It's not real clear from your message, but I suspect that it was the eliminate of 3G that is causing your problems, not the new radio. You can get more information on it at T-Mobile 4G Adapter

Sorry.. my GC is a 2018.
I've assumed it was the 3G causing the problems and not the radio. The dealership even went in and re- installed everything from the beginning and UCONNECT still can't see it. I'm mainly wanting it back for the phone access when inside and the tracking .. I travel alot.
You will still have phone access without UConnect or the 4G adapter - you just won't be able to do the texts like you used to and that is whether or not you have the 4G adapter. The tracking on the other hand requires the adapter.
