thank you everyone for the welcome to your forum, I love my Cherokee, and I found a set of rims and tires from a Gladiator, but the tires are 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT the factory tires I have look very close to the struts , would I need 1 or 1 1/2 inch wheel spacers ? and would a leveling kit be needed? let me know.....cheers everyone

Look for 255/70/17 and they'll fit fine or just buy the rims you like and throw those tires on

I have a 2014 grand Cherokee with Factory tow package that I bought a few months ago. I can across a killer deal on some rubicon wheels 285/70R17. After hours of researching on online I determine I would need to lift the jeep to make them work. Today I decided to put the wheels on to see how bad they would rub, well to my surprise then fit fine!

To my taste it looks amazing!
Awesome! I have a WK2 2011 with with factory 18” wheel. But was thinking to go down a little bit to 17” and install some RC 2.50 lift kits and use my rubicon wheels. Do you have any issues after all!

Yes it does get you at least 2" from factory. I took some pictures before and after. Well over 2", it about 2.75, possible due to fact springs need to settle. The rear went from 35.25 with the Rubicon wheels to 36.25 with the lift. The jeep rides just like stock.
Overall extremely happy with the results
Stock: 32.5"

With rubicon wheels and tires: 33 7/8"

With lift: 36 5/8"

To the OP:

Did you ever get those Rubicon wheels mounted successfully?

Reason I’m asking is I just traded my 2021 Wrangler Sport for a 2021 Grand Cherokee Limited. It came with 18” wheels and Michelin street tires.

I have the exact same set of 5 Gladiator Rubicon take-off wheels and Falcon Wildpeak tires in my possession. They worked perfectly on the 2021 Wrangler Sport with no lifting or spacing required. I just had to go into the BCM and program the larger tire circumference to get the speedo/odo reading correctly.

I realize that the hub center and bolt spacing is the same, but the offset/backspacing is different, between JT and WK2. I think the JGC would look sick (in a good way) with some 33” ATs on it, and since I already own them, why not?

Seems OP isn’t responding. I may try PM.

I’ve done some calculations that are pretty interesting:

Stock JGC Limited w/ 265/60 R18 Michelin Primacy tires
Tire section width 10.7” Diameter 30.5”
Wheels - 8”x18” ET 56.4 Backspacing 171 (6.73”)

Jeep Gladiator Rubicon w/ Falcon Wildpeak AT4 tires
Tire section width 11.5”. Diameter 33”
Wheels 7.5”x17 ET 37.17 Backspacing 145 (5.71”)

The difference in backspacing puts the inner rim edge 1.02” further outboard
1/2” narrower rim means the outer rim edge will only be 0.52” further outboard.
The Wildpeaks are 0.8” wider section width, so only 0.4” wider each direction.
So tires will extend 0.92” further outboard on the outside and 0.62 further outboard on inner.

After calculating this I was thinking that I’d be able to mount them up without any spacers or lift. Pulled off one of the fronts and compared, and see the problem: the stock wheels have more of a dished shape to accommodate the brake calipers. Measuring from the mounting surface, the stock wheels are dished 1.25” and the Gladiator wheels are .only 0.75”. Mounted the Gladiator wheel and it contacts the caliper. Put the stock wheels back on and it has 1/2” clearance between the wheel and caliper.

So, it looks like I’d need to at least put 1/2” spacers on to clear the calipers.

I’m also thinking a 2” front strut spacer lift may be required for the extra 2 1/2” of wheel diameter to avoid contacting front wheel arch, and only 1/2” rear spring spacers to level the Jeep better from front to back.

Am I missing anything? Will I need to realign the front after installing strut spacers? My guess is probably.

It was a no go for me. I didn’t like the idea of having wheel spacers, and the $500 spacer lifts are not ideal either. Decided to sell the wheels (got $1000 for the set) and I’m running stock 18” wheels on it now. When the Michelin tires wear out I’ll probably get a set of Falcon Wildpeaks for it. In the meantime I have winter wheels and tires that I picked up for $500.
