I Need Help Regarding Lowering a WK1

Hello,

I am quite new to Jeep Garage, so please forgive me if I have posted in the wrong place. I have been looking into lowering my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for quite some time now but I have gotten nowhere. Scott's WK suspension thread was very helpful, but I still am unsure of which spring/shock combo would be best for me. If anyone could please share photos and information of their current setups, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Charlie.

I run the WK Bilsteins.

I'll add a little about my experiences with the lowering. As you can see, I have the SRT body kit on it, and the bottom of the front bumper is only about 4 in. off the ground. I have to be careful going up/down driveways and such. In the winter, with more than about 4 in. of snow on the ground, I also make like the neighborhood snow plow.

This setup (Eibach/Bilstein) does give a firmer ride, but passes the "wife" test, at least for me. If you end up going with 20 in. wheels and low profile (40/45 aspect ratio) tires, the ride will be a little firmer yet. I usually switch back to the stock wheels with larger 60 series tires in the winter.

As far as handling goes, this setup (suspension and wheels/tires) is, IMO, about as good as you can make it (if you're after better handling) for an almost 5000 lb. SUV. It handles like it's on rails and, IMO, is about 1000% better than it was with the stock suspension.

Welcome to the forum. On my 06 GCO I used Eibach SRT8 lowering springs and sway bars. I retained the stock sway end links and the stock upper control arms. I did have to change the upper ball joints to the adjustable type so I could get it properly aligned. I also use Bilstein shocks/struts all the way around. This setup has worked great for years.
