I would not use double sided tape, it will be thick and wont look right.

I would use contact cement. It's used for applications like this. Veneers and Laminates, like Formica on particle board for counter tops, use contact cement.

It's thin, strong, and will work perfect in your application.

Super glue would be too hard. Any flex might make it crack and cause the same problem. Even temperature changes could make it crack.

My 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland has now had the wood trim on both the passenger door and above the glove box come loose. This is a south Florida vehicle so lots of heat in the summer. Seems like this may be more widespread than I would have thought. Any successful fixes??

I would try contact cement. As Andoskyy says, it is for this type of application. Full disclosure, I have not done this myself, though. It is happening on my wife's 2001 Jetta so I should try it myself. I would not use tape, it's too thick, as mentioned. I would not try super glue because the mating surfaces have to be clean and an exact mate - I don't think super glue fills gaps very well, but it might.

Yes i just bought an old jeep grand cherokee overland and all of the wood trims came off now i just have the undersides what can i do to fix them can i give it to a woodworker to polish it for me what can i do please the oem parts are too expensive let me know thank you

Hey @BadTA - this exact same thing just happened to my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Trim peeling off in the exact same spot. It's been 8 years since your post but do you happen to recall how you fixed yours and if it worked?

Not sure how/why this happened, but it was fine last night. Got in this morning and found my wood trim coming off!



Any idea how to fix it or should I take it to the dealer?

I've got the same issue. But, mine is coming off all around the front dash. I've tried superglue, contact cement, Gorilla glue and nothing has worked. Parts have actually broken off and are not even usable. I'm about to just peel off the rest of it and try to find replacement trim. Any leads on replacement trim would be helpful.

I just had this happen to my 2011 WK2 on the same piece after sitting in the sun for a week at the airport and it was peeling rather significantly. My MaxCare coverage excludes trim pieces so I'll likely use a very thin 3M double sided tape that won't cause it to gap. I just hope it's not too thin and has enough strength to hold. Time will tell.
