I just saw an article on Motorauthority about the SRT brand being integrated into Dodge and any non Dodge SRT models being phased out. Any inside info on if this is true about the Jeep SRT?

Doing some reading and it looks like Dodge is absorbing the SRT brand and all new SRT vehicles will only be under the dodge brand. Looks like no more GC or 300 SRT. Found the below links on the Challenger forum. Looks to be true, no mention of any SRT models on the jeep or chrysler presentation.

Sucketh, yea verily!

Looks like this may happen...

Autoweek also noted it... along with the 2017 date for GC refresh and 2018 for GW.

Still think it is a stupid move at least in north america where SRT actually means something.

Hopefully it only means that SRT will be the Dodge performance arm... and a new acronym would be used for Jeep, Chrysler, Alfa, Fiat.

? Abarth Jeeps anyone ?

Dodge To Become Performance Brand, Integrate SRT

"This will see SRT’s Viper flagship return to being a Dodge, and various SRT models currently found outside the Dodge brand, such as the Chrysler 300 SRT and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, likely discontinued. Current Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis will oversee the integration, with current SRT boss Ralph Gilles to continue as design chief and motorsports supremo."

“I want to thank Ralph for his dedication to the SRT brand,” FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne said today. “Under Ralph’s leadership, the SRT brand expanded its vehicle lineup to include more highly customized models and received numerous automotive awards and distinctions.”

Dodge will lose its place as FCA’s mainstream brand. Instead, that role will be served by Chrysler, with Dodge to be repositioned as a sporty brand filled with muscle cars and performance-oriented crossovers.

Below is a rough outline for Dodge’s future over the next couple of years.

2015: Grand Caravan and Avenger to be phased out. Challenger, Charger and Viper to receive updates (including supercharger for SRT Challenger and Charger). No change to Durango.

2016: Dart to receive update and new SRT variant with all-wheel drive and turbo.

2017: Journey to receive new SRT variant with all-wheel drive and turbo.

2018: New compact hatch to be launched alongside new versions of the Challenger and Charger.

That would suckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk... I want a Jeep hellcat :-(

I have a feeling that if the dart is an awd SRT(like it shows on their chart) that it would sell good. I know I would seriously look at one for my daughter when she turns 16. JMO

From a branding perspective, it probably makes sense... Focus and leverage within a key brand... Vs. across brands. Problem is Chrysler has too many darn brands... So they do this...

Maybe the jeep srt will be reborn In the Maserati SUV. Maybe they can't justify the srt within jeep... Who Knows...

If this happens will be trading in my 2014 for the last model year they make it...

Major disappointment if this becomes reality...

can't imagine not being able to have the next generation jeep SRT. will never, ever, ever catch me in a journey SRT....

I heard this rumor 2-3 weeks ago and it made me sick. Then I was reassured the Jeep srt was not dead. Then the news today...so many mixed messages from fcw......

Scott - your statement about nobody wanting a Dart SRT - I have to disagree with you there. That segment, the WRX segment if you will is one of the easiest ones to exploit. Imagine if Dodge did an SRT Dart that was 5k cheaper than the WRX?

cha ching.

For what it's worth, I see more darts than I care to admit on the road. I think they sell quite well for Dodge. Not their top dog, but not the worst either.

The dart has been a turd sales wise. I just saw the April numbers and unless I'm mistaken...it was down 29 or 32% from last year total. I will look again
..but only selling 4-5k econo-boxes per month is terrible. The dart wont worry subaru at all. It will be 0 competition to the wrx. The wrx has built its reputation for years...and don't even get me started on the piece of crap journey

Regarding the Dart, while sales are off 29% YTD, they are still selling a half-way decent amount of them, 6,000/month, certainly not what Dodge would like to see, but enough that the vehicle is still profitable.

The 2017 Dart and 2017 Dart SRT will be all-new vehicles, if they hit the mark on the features, design and execution, it could do extremely well sales-wise. The Dart SRT will also be much more affordable that the other SRT vehicles, as was the Neon and Caliber SRT's. Dodge sold more than 25,000 Neon SRT's in three model years, and almost 6,000 Caliber SRT's the 1.5 model years that it was out (Caliber lineup was discontinued early).

As for the 2018 AWD "Journey" SRT, it will be interesting to see what they come up with for the design and features. It may end up under a totally different name. The original plan was to come out with a Durango SRT, and it was already being planned for the 2016 model year (July 2015 production launch). Instead, they decided to cancel the Durango version and go with the "Journey". Could be because it's lighter, and will be able to be sold at a more aggressive price point than a Durango variant.

Lets hope they do indeed decide not to bring the SRT Durango out. If that were to happen, I could see that giving them the option/justification to kill the Jeep SRT (same platform).

I will say, I was pretty saddened to hear the Jeep SRT may be cancelled. Although I have not bought one yet (still working overseas), I still plan to get one when I return to the States.

Being the sales leader, I think it would be unlikely for them to cancel it, or at least I hope so.

P.S. It's good to see posts again from you Milous. Haven't seen you on a whole lot since the 2014 release. I admit that I don't go through each thread as much as I used to so that may be the reason??

I still can't see the Jeep SRT going away. I know what the allotments look like and the dealer demand outpaces what they are making more than half the year. I do understand what they are trying to achieve with branding so I would put my money I n the same truck (and or renewed design on the new platform) with adjusted branding. The Jeep Grand Cherokee "Powered by SRT" sounds more like the direction. If only from a business model planning scope.
