I don't know if you have a JKU but our 2013 JK Sahara has an excellent turning radius. I do agree with you about the not-so-smooth ride.

Also, you can add a backup camera without too much difficulty. I added one to my wife's Sahara, after reading several how-to articles.
Ya it's a jku 4 door on 35s with a 3.5 lift. Seriously the doors shake when you hit a pothole. Welcome to the midwest

I have a 2016 Overland 4WD High Altitude Diesel and my wife has a 2014 Acura MDX with the SH-AWD.

Her MDX is quieter, rides better, and handles better on the mountain switchbacks, but I like the rugged looks of the JGC and enjoy driving it over the MDX.

The GC is my first US nameplate vehicle in several years. I've been driving Toyota and Acura vehicles in the past. I'm crossing my fingers the GC will have the reliability of my past vehicles. So far, I've had no problems.

My two cents.

I went the other way. Had two Hyunda Santa Fe's. Would probable have bought another, but they did away with the 3.5 did cylinder. We went with the GC because it has the highest towing capacity if any 6 cyl SUV.

Other SUV is a 2010 Escalade ESV (6.2l). Features are pretty compatible to the 14WK2 Summit. However, the ride quality is much better with the Jeep as compared to the Escalade on factory 22’s. As expected.

Believe it or not, the WK2 has more leg-room for the driver. I’m 6’7, and the Jeep feels luxorious...

We’re actually looking at getting our second SUV tomorrow, hopefully. It’ll be for my wife and she doesn’t want something as big as my GC, but I want it to have AWD and we both want it to have enough room for our two big dogs and our daughter which means it has to be an SUV. We’ve settled on the Santa Fe Sport, it’s just smaller than my Jeep but has the same cargo space and the one we’re looking at comes with every single feature I can think of. Seems to drive really well and you can get a lot for the money. I like the idea of a V6 better than the 2.0T that it has, but it seems like most manufacturers are going that route. I’ll definitely prefer the look and capability of my Jeep, but may end up stealing that a few times since it has so much stuff. I miss adaptive headlights and auto dimming mirrors. Plus CarPlay is amazing along with ventilated front seats, pano sunroof, etc. It’ll definitely be what we drive cross country unless I really need to tow.

I had 2 MDX's 2003 and 2008 and they were flawless vehicles. I would certainly have another if it fit the need.

I see many people on this thread who have or have just gotten Santa Fe's.... That vehicle intrigues me, as it seems to have every option you may want, looks at least OK, and the price is right ! Are they really that good? Hold up long term? Etc?? I don't know much about them, but I'm all about getting the most for the least money if it's dependable and this one looks promising coming up.....

The wife has a 2017 Cherokee Trailhawk. I will only drive it as a last resort. The interior seems significantly smaller to me (I'm a big guy to start with) and the cargo area seems tiny. We have two 50-60 pound dogs and I don't see how both of them would fit back there at the same time. My JGC is the official dog hauler. It does have the 3.2 V6, but performance is lack-luster at best. I attribute that to the transmission though as the shift points/patterns are terrible. I can't imagine driving one with the small (non-turbo) 4-banger.

On the up-side, it does fantastic in any type of bad weather driving and it's been pretty reliable. And she loves it, so there's that.

We have a few cars in the stable, as far as SUV, we have the 2014 GC Overland and a 2017 BMW X5. The X5 is more enjoyable to drive, much more spirited, but it comes at a premium. I dont like that it doesnt have some features that are standard on the GC. It different. I use the GC for minor towing and as my daily, the x5 we take on longer trips as its more comfortable ride. Space is comparable in each.

Next vehicle though (in the next few years) will be the Yukon Denali. I like the small size of the jeep and BMW for moving around parking lots, but we need more space for daily family trips, and the comfort has to be there as well, and the denali hits all those facets. The new expedition is also hitting a lot of marks, but its not as nice looking IMO

I drove Yukons and Suburbans for 25 years. Wonderful, wonderful vehicles. But with the four kids out of the house and the golden retriever in doggy heaven, we don't need the space anymore, and man am I glad not to have to maneuver one in a parking lot or garage anymore!

My wife has a 2014 RX350 – total different experience then my 2014 WK2. It’s a much more luxurious (lots of features found on the overland) and it drives like a couch. My biggest complaints is its lack of trunk space, poor gas mileage and it being underpowered.

Financially its done great for us, already paid off and still worth quite a bit. With a second kiddo on the way, I have my eyes on the GX or the legendary LX for her (secretly for me as well).

But head to head, ill take my WK2 over her RX any day.

My son is on the verge of buying a 2-year-old NX f-Sport. It's really nice but of course feels cramped to me.

We had my 2015 JGC HA and my wife's 2017 Tahoe LT. The Tahoe made the Jeep feel like a sports car. The Tahoe is for carting the 2 dogs and for long trips - its a very comfortable cruising vehicle.

Jeep over any of them! I'm on my 5th Jeep (2015 Cherokee), while my wife is on her 2nd Escape. I'll take the Cherokee over the Escape any day of the week! Ride, NVH, controls are all better in the Jeep. :)

We’ve had ours for less than a week so initial impressions at best, but I really like it. My wife wanted something smaller than my GC but could still carry our daughter and 170 pounds of golden retrievers. The Santa Fe Sport is a little lower and maybe two inches shorter but still has the same cargo area as the GC. You can get a lot for the money from them and Kia. Hers is a 2018 but still brand new and is loaded with everything they offer. Pano sunroof, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, lane departure assist, high beam assist, 360* parking cameras, Apple CarPlay, etc. I’m finding new features all the time - like the auto tailgate open when your hands are full. I’m glad I didn’t get the base engine though, that one was kind of sluggish. The 2.0T is much better but makes it easy to speed. The SFS also drives much more like a sedan than my GC. It feels significantly smaller on the road even though it really isn’t.

Hi guys, new to the forum here! Just purchased a CPO JGC limited, 2015, 20k miles, for $25,700. Original sticker was $42k. Love it so far, looks and feels brand new, but also keeping my 2008 Chrysler Aspen with 109k miles on it. Aspen is so much bigger and a tank, but loving the size and ride of the JGC!

I can't compare the WK2 to another currently-owned SUV bc my last one was a '91 Explorer bought new (was the first year they made them). For its day the Ford (an Eddie Bauer edition) was very nice...decent power, nice ride, not as tipsy as I expected. To me it was a LOT nicer than the Cherokee of the same era.

When I went looking this time I only considered two vehicles though. One being the WK2 and the other being the Tahoe (did not consider Yukon or Escalade bc basically the same truck just more expensive). Due to the wide center console, the Tahoe did not feel any roomier inside, for all its exterior bulk and difficulty fitting in my garage or parking spaces, and the gas mileage was much worse. Add to that, I couldn't touch even a base '12 Tahoe for within 10 grand of what I paid for my '12 WK2. I like the way the Jeep drives and handles, especially the tight turning circle. The 3.6L does want to hunt for a lower gear when I try to accelerate on the freeway, but otherwise it's got all the power I need, and it's getting me 18-19 in suburban driving. It'll probably be my last Jeep though, unless maybe I get a used 2019 in a few years, because it sounds like the next generation will be more Fiat than anything.

Can't really compare to anything else. We both have Jeeps, and neither of us has owned an SUV that wasn't a Jeep. They are the best.
This is so awesome! I'm driving a '14 Laredo E in Granite Crystal (ummm, grey), and she is driving an '07 Mazda CX9. When my factory order arrives (about 4 weeks) I'll be driving a '19 Laredo E in Red, she'll be in my '14, and our garage will look exactly like yours!

I have a 2019 GC Overland V6 with ORA2 and Harmon Kardon audio upgrade. My other vehicle is a 2014 Audi Q5 TDI Premium Plus. The Audi weights 4400 lbs while the Overland is 4600 lbs.

I love the ride of the GC. Solid feel. V6 acceleration is great off the line. MPG is not great, but enjoying the lower cost of 87 octane gasoline vs diesel, or 93 octane (used in trade-in Audi S3 for GC).

In summary, I was surprised by the solid feel and comfort of driving the GC. The Q5 has too active suspension, and will be looking to downsize Q5 wheels and tires down from 19" to 18" in future for a better ride.

In response to your downsizing your Audi wheels I just added a new Santa Fe Ultimate 2.0T that came with 235 55 19 wheels and tires. For some reason manufactures feel the more expensive the trim level they sell the more uncomfortable the customer wants to be. I went to Discount Tire and bought 235 65 17's (the size wheels and tires that come on the lower trim Santa Fe). Anyway the car rides like a dream now on bumpy roads, which is every road in Colorado. That's why I bought a JGC Limited instead of the Overland for the 265 60 18's. By the way the Santa Fe is by no means a JGC but it is for sure a sweet vehicle loaded with just about everything for about 35k after the discounts. No extended warranty needed comes with 5/60 and 10/100k powertrain.
