Quick follow up on this. Had a couple small issues that I think I got sorted now. Had to turn off Uconnect for phone calls. When it was selected, I had no incoming or, outgoing audio. Once turned off, all calls work as they should through Android Auto. Also, no more aggravating text notifications though Uconnect. That was the worst thing about the stock radio IMO. Now I can send whatever message I want instead of the canned responses. The long winded dialog on Uconnect was atrocious. Also got the double backup guides turned off so the stock backup cam one is the only one visible.
All in all, liking the upgrade.

Did you stock backup cam work without issue? I don't want to add any new cameras.

Did you install your self? I would probably look for a local audio place to do mine. I don't have the time and they would do a much better job than myslef.

Yes, steering wheel controls are maintained with the use of the Maestro RR.

Did you stock backup cam work without issue? I don't want to add any new cameras.
Stock rearview camera works. I just had to remove the guidance lines in the radio settings as the rear cam has their own and it was showing double.

Any other compatability issues?
No. The radio comes with a new mic, so everything works. Kind of wish it integrated the OEM microphone but, not a big deal.

I did do the install myself.
It's a lot of wiring to cram in there but just takes patience.

How do you like the fit? It protrudes some, but no where near as bad as most I see. Do you notice it getting in the way? I saw where you said it makes it easier to reach. Do you mean you don’t have to lean up as far from your seat to reach it?

Sorry for all the questions. I just stumbled upon a Gem. A 2013 Overland Hemi4x4 in Black Forest green with 65k miles on it. Every option offered including dual exhaust. One owner, know the guy. Garage kept etc. rarely drove it.

so I say that to say I plan to be driving this for the long haul. This will be my baby lol.

not an answer to your question, but I’m interested in the same unit. Did you install yours yourself? What’s your experience with that prior to? I’m pretty sure I can do it no issue, just want to see how many out there did it themselves.
Also, what model jeep is yours in? What all “extra” adapters did you buy? Thanks in advance

 

I personally use heat shrinkable butt splices. They offer better protection against being crushed or nicked.
regular heat shrink over soldered wires isn’t very strong insulation, (nicks easily) electrical tape over soldered wires is even worse protection.
do yourself a favour use heat shrinkable butt splices

 

I soldered and used heat shrink tubing. I then wrapped with TESSA tape. It's the same cloth tape used by manufacturers to wrap harnesses. No worries about durability.

 

I've got a question but wanted to say your head unit looks great. I just recently purchased the Alpine ilx-507 and was wondering about the parking brake wire. Can you post a picture of where that is, how you spliced into it and tell me which color wire it is? Thanks in advance.
