I recently did the 2.184 software update on my RHR 730N using a USB worked great no problem... But, followed by updating the gracenotes 5411. The process started as normal but when the unit rebooted to continue the update nothing seemed to happen, later when checking my radio functions my Devices menu, usb, Bluetooth etc.. Icon selections are grayed out, unselectable. How can I correct this or is this some part of the update process that well correct it self??? Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

I downloaded and burned the ISO's for both 2.184 and 5411 Gracenotes last week. I installed 2.184 with no issue. Then a couple days later I had an hour drive so I put the 5411 DVD in to install along the way. The progress indicators got all the way to being filled/complete when I got the following error message (note I got screenshot from subsequent attempt but the message is the same):

I waited until I got home and tried again but got the same error. I even re-downloaded the ISO and burned a new DVD. Same error.

Here is my system info:

Any input/advice would be welcomed. I could try with USB if that might work differently. Perhaps I could try going back a revision - if an ISO is available for the older version.

Thanks.

Thank You "SOX", I Burned the Gracenotes update onto a DVD. I repeated the update process and all is well now... I will no longer update application or gracenotes software using a USB, USB updating can be problematic!!

...........yep, DVD are secure:thumbsup:

I use software that will make an ISO copy. Use the lowest speed possible for the copy (i.e. 2x). Have not had any problems using the DVDs.

Hi" new here but have made use of Sox's latest gracenote and uconnect software updates. I'm in South Africa, with a WK2 grand cherokee CRD Overland, 2012 year, RHP 730 uconnect system. After a DVD ISO update, all's been fine.

However, after adding a bunch of mp3s this weekend to the hard drive via USB , I've run into an issue where the system freezes, everything is frozen, even the clock, and it only resets after I switch the car off and the screen goes blank, give it a few moments and restart. Is there perhaps a corrupted mp3 on the hard drive now?

Any advice is much appreciated

Ah geez I was hoping there was another way :(

Thanks Sox, will delete from last loaded and see from there (don't want to have to reload and re-edit all my cd's also copied)

Any ideas on how to spot/identify the culprit?

I had no problem creating the DVDs. They look fine from exploring in Windows and they verified fine when being created. I had no problem using the ISO of the 2.184 update.

So it appears that installing the Gracenotes from DVD failed for me and I was trying to get information as to what I can do next. Is the ISO of a previous version available? Should I try installing from USB now that DVD has failed? Is there some other 'diagnostic' I can do to check my DVD hardware?

Ye I have precisely the same problem as you do.

I am thinking of finding the original gracenotes version and trying to reinstall that version again.

Fukked if I know what to do next!!

LOL! :D

whats your issue??

you cant not install gracenotes?
Step 1 - Download Imgburn - free version

Step 2 - Download Gracenotes update from Sox

Step 3 - install Imgburn

Step 4- Burn the iso file from Sox to a new DVD-R using:

a) 2 X Speed just like Sox said you should - WHO CARES IF YOUR DVD IS ONLY 4X - IMGburn GIVES YOU A 2X option!!!

b) using a Verbatim DVD just like Sox said you should

c) Who cares what you call the DVD - Imgburn does not even ASK to name the DVD! So it does not matter.

Step 5- insert the DVD into the MyGig and update.

If it does not work, burn a new DVD PROPERLY!!

If that still does not work DOWNLOAD from Sox AGAIN and repeat Steps 4 and 5

Do that and you will not make an idiot of yourself like I did!!

LMFAO :lol::lol:

Thanks SoX - You are a star!!

Hey everyone,

Installed the 2.184 update with no problems but I am having problems with the Gracenotes update like others are. Followed the instructions to the T and created the DVD. Inserted and started the install, everything looks good for about 3/4 of the way and then it goes back to the start install screen. I could live without the update now but since the install removes the old file I got nothing. I have downloaded the update 3 times and made 3 DVD's with the same results.

Any Ideals?

Thanks

I had to download the update 3 times before I got a good copy. The best way to check your download before you burn it to disk is to downloand and install 7-Zip. It is a free program. You can then right click on the .ISO file you download and extract it. If it extracts with errors, delete the .ISO and download again. If it extracts without errors then burn it to disk then update. That is how I was able to successfully update my radio.
