Another early MY 14 update from 17.11.07 to 17.43.01.

Downloaded the files from the UConnect site and loaded them onto a USB flash drive. The update took about ~30 minutes and I left the engine running throughout.

Like many others have shared the system seems to start up quicker and is more responsive to touch input / transitioning to new screens. I am very hopeful that this latest version is more reliable for me... 17.11.07 (which I did via OTA update) has not only been slow but also caused my UConnect system to freeze and randomly reboot at times --- which never happened prior to 17.11.07.

This new version will hopefully curb that behavior. I drove around outside to calibrate the GPS and so far in 30 min of drive-time everything seems to work well and is stable. If I run into any issues I will share them on this thread. Good luck to others on making the call whether to update!

I've been following this thread and just joined the forum. I uploaded the new update to my '18 Cherokee and all went smoothly. However... Right after installing the update I had a new Yelp app on the screen. Then, it went away. Bummer. I mean I used it and everything and then it just went away. WTF?

This update was for 2014-2017 Grand Cherokee. I don't know what radio a 2018 Cherokee has, but I'm sure there are model specific updates for your vehicle.

I hear ya. I entered my serial number into the website and installed the proper software update. I'm pretty sure it was 17.43.01. I have an '18 but I know it was manufactured in '17. Interesting thread. Reminds me of checking the Apple site before downloading a new OS. I never had a problem but lots of people did. Still puzzled at Yelp coming and going.

Just updated my Uconnect 8.4AN on my '15 Overland this morning and got bamboozled. So I was running 17.11.17, downloaded the 17.43.17 onto a USB thumb drive, inserted the USB thumb drive drive into the Media port, put the vehicle into "RUN", but without the engine running and had a external battery hooked up. Got an message saying the software version on the USB is older than the software version that's currently running on the headunit itself. I acknowledged that message by clicking the "OK" button. About 2-3mins later, received an new message window saying that there is new a software version update that can be downloaded via FOTA. I clicked "OK" to proceed with the update which took about 10-15mins. When the update was completed I checked the software version and it is now 18.11.17.

Btw, I wanted to make sure my Uconnect was up to date so that I can get the latest Navigation Map update which they are have a special promo on(ends 8.31.19).

Anyone else now running 18.11.17?

Very interesting. First I've heard of that version on a 2015. Now I have to go check to see if that is available for mine.

Anything look different? Performance? Crashes?

18.11.17 GUI visually/aesthetically looks exactly the same as 17.43.17. No issues at the moment; all the Unconnect functions on the headunit itself seems to be working just for me, however I do not have a Uconnect subscription so I can't say anything about the Uconnect APP wise.

I can't find any info on 18.11.17. Probably just bug fixes, performance tweaks, and vulnerability fixes..

I updated mine my via USB to 17.43.17 and then the next morning on my drive into work I got prompted that an update was available and to schedule it or update now. It updated to 18.43.01 via OTA but it looks like it was bug fixes, performance tweaks, and vulnerability fixes as I didn't see anything new. 2015 model year

7 days ago when I turned off my vehicle's motor the uConnect radio and it would play another, maybe 45 seconds or until I opened the door (windows too, but they still work fine). Now my uConnect radio stops playing was soon as I turn the key off. For the last 5 days I've been calling uConnect everyday. One day I had to call 4 times as I kept getting cutoff. One lady I did talk to Friday evening said something about a setting on the steering wheel?....but got cutoff right as she started step 1.

I found on the internet that the setting is called Radio Off Delay and it's located in Engine Off Options. Found the EOO but can't find the ROD anywhere. I call uConnect and no one will/can tell me how to fix it, only that I need to update it. FINE!, I downloaded the file, extracted on a Kingston 8gb USB drive, like they said. Start the truck, plug in the USB and get this message:

Error: USB contains older SW and FOTA has newer SW.
What does that even mean? I Googled it and that is how I found that place.

I'm sorry for rambling and I'm not trying to slam uConnect at all. I'm just really, really frustrated right now. Can someone please help me out and steer me in a good direction??

BTW, it is version 17.09.01

I spoke with support today by phone and they verified that version 18.(Something) is being pushed out regionally. If you need to update, I'm pretty sure that's the one they want you to install, but they are having tons of installissues with it across the board. I had the same USB ERROR as you. The 18. version is not available for download yet from the site, it is only available On Air and there is no way for them or for the owner to send a request for a vehicle to FOTA and get the update. He suggested resetting the system (pressing Volume and Tuning knobs on the radio down until the screen goes black) to possibly initiate FOTA connection, but it never worked. It seems from what customer support says, you just have to wait until it cycles your region. Again. Maybe. Very frustrated here also.

I'm wondering if anyone in the southeastern Ohio area has received the update. My Jeep generally sits in the garage during the warm months unless I take a trip or go off-roading somewhere or need to haul something. Good weather months are for the MX5. I've gotten it out in the last week to start using it periodically (the MX5 has summer performance tires on it and it isn't really good to drive as the temps get to the low 40's and below), but I've seen nothing about the OTA. I do have a long trip planned for December so I do want to make sure I can depend on the Nav system for that and I understand that this update is partially to prevent a problem with the Nav system starting around November 3 of this year.

Anything new on this? After I drove to work and put my '14 in Park I got a message saying an update was ready for install so I left the car running and started the update.

The radio rebooted and I got a progress bar that made it to 9% and then it rebooted again and came back up to the normal radio screen as usual and the radio started playing again.

I waited another minute to see if it was done and after that, shut the car off.

Since then, my clock is WAY off (approx 8 hours) when set to GPS. I can manually set the time but that is beside the point.

Also some of the menus seems less responsive.

I was running 17.43.01 prior to this, but it still shows that as my version. I've tried a few resets with no luck. I read there was a way to trigger the OTA notification again but I haven't had any luck.

Anyone else having this issue?

You need to read this thread, it should answer all your questions.

I am DESPERATELY looking for a copy of this firmware. I just purchased a used 2016 Jeep Cherokee that came with firmware 15.30.2 . Dealer wants almost $200 to do a firmware update. I went to the website to download the latest, but it won't install over a firmware this old (says "take to dealer"). highway robbery for a DIY download. I can't even use uconnect until I upgrade.

specifically looking for a MY16 and RA3/VP3 version. would have a file name something like UCONNECT_8.4A_RA3_17.43.01_MY16_NAFTA

Scoured the internet for a few days to try and find it. Found lots of RA4's, lot's of different model years, just not the specific one for mine. The irony is the firmware is so old, I found a whole thread on hacking it for free navigation/wifi, with the downloads available, but they don't seem to want me to upgrade legitimately. Very strange.

Thank you. Sox is providing a great service. Unfortunately, the only RA3 he has is for a MY14, and they are not compatible. While I'm morally comfortable installing a hacked firmware, the instructions on how to do it include instructions that rip out the radio type, model year, and country checks. I may go that route if I have to.
