How do I send a PM. Clicking your user name does not give me the option to “start a conversation” Doug
Hi Douglas46w,

I sent a PM and can assist from there!

So disappointed (and that's putting it nicely) in Jeep right now. I have a 2018 Jeep Compass I bought used less than 1 year ago. Loved the car until the Uconnect touchscreen began to delaminate and the ghost touching started. I cannot believe with all the reports I have seen that this has not been recalled as a safety issue. I filed a report a few days ago with the NHTSA. Spoke with Jeep Cares (do they?) and was told unfortunately as a second owner and with 43,000 miles, there would no financial assistance but to save my receipts for reimbursement should this be recalled. The local dealership informed me that they can only replace the entire unit at a cost of $2400! When I asked about just replacing the touchscreen, my service rep said it's not possible to just replace the screen. I questioned him about this and he remained adamant that my only solution is to replace the entire unit. I called another dealer and they were a lot friendlier but said the same thing and that they are replacing the units not the screens. What am I missing here?! I see other posts in this forum and elsewhere online indicating they replaced the touchscreen only, either at a dealership or purchasing online and installing themselves. Is this truly not an option for some models?
It's available for all models . Just have to have the right person change it for you. We change the screens here in Las Vegas on a consistant basis. We change out the dodge , cadillac digitizer screens alot. It takes a little patience but not impossible by any means.

Ugh this is happening to me :( bought from CarMax 2 years ago coming off a lease but they can’t fix Jeeps and called a few places and quoted $1500-2400. This is ABSURD as it is a known car problem with a pending class action suit and no reimbursement

Hi Mariska,

Is there a nearby Jeep dealer that you can work with for a diagnosis? If so, we recommend starting with that process then giving us a call at 877-855-8400 so we can provide the next best steps to address your concerns.

Hey Steph, I also am having a delaminating and random screen touches problem on my screen. It is a 2018 with 68,000 miles. Can you help me out also?

Mine started as well months ago. Unfortunately i got the UAQ as a replacement for my 2015 GC in order to have CarPlay. So in order to avoid to purchase the entire radio, i found and purchased just the screen replacement from eBay. First time i received a defective screen which was showing a starting delamination in the upper left corner. Sent it back and ordered another one from a different supplier. The first supplier confirmed to me that after my claim he checked his supply and found an entire batch of defective screens ! This is my screen: View attachment 227663 And this is the screen I received: View attachment 227664 Eventually the delamination will begin to affect the digitizer layer ( the touch sensitive layer ) and the radio will begin to act crazy as if you were touching randomly the screen which is my situation now...
Curious, this is the situation I am currently in - how did you manage it from here?

Steph (JeepCares),

After submitting a bunch of documents and a few pix, Jeep (Uconnect) paid for my replacement radio, including installation. It wouldn't have happened without your input. I can't thank you enough. Doug
You're more than welcome, Douglas46w!

hello Steph,

I just dropped my car to a dealer to fix the navigation, antennae and usb ports for a work order as discussed. Please direct where to send and next steps.
thanks!

hello.. I went to the dealer today about the app not working, the screen peeling, and occasionally the radio/navigation jumping around. I was told there is nothing they can do about everything but the peeling and to wait until the end of the month for the update? Is the UConnect update going to fix everything? Obviously not the peeling of the screen, but the rest of it? I kind of feel like it's all connected thanks laura

I took my 2018 grand cherokee into dealership yesterday due to radio changing channels itself and just jumping all over PLUS rhe screen is delaminating! I was told the new radio would be around 1,850 and a reman. one would be 1250 with installment! So my vehicle is 5 years old and where were the recalls for this???? Very frustrated! This should be taken care of by JEEP!!! It seems this has been a HUGE issue with 2018s!

There's not a recall but within the 20 pages of this thread it tells how you can fix it yourself for less than $50 and a bit of work, send it off to Infotainment and they will repair it (currently around $600) or several other options.

I purchased a 2018 GC Trailhawk used from a Chevy dealership at the end of July 2023. The GC is out of warranty. I noticed the first week that the screen was delaminating and the "ghost touching" on the screen was starting to happen. Based on various threads of this issue, I called UConnect/Jeep Care and started the process to see if they would fix this under a customer care ticket as the manufacturer of the screen is taking care of the issue.
  • I went to my Jeep dealership and after three tries, got them to document the issue and give me a quote for it.
  • Called Jeep Care / UConnect and after some running around, they issued a case number and the process was in play.
  • 30 days later,Jeep Care gave authorization for the Jeep dealership to replace the radio at no cost to me. 14 days, the wrong radio was received by the dealership. New one ordered...
  • 10 days later, my radio is replaced and my world is good. Only took two months and A LOT of phone calls - but I saved myself $1800 for a new radio or $400 if I purchased a new Gen3 screen and did the work myself.

In a nutshell, if you are persistent and keep your temper in check (it was HARD), Jeep Care will replace the radio with a refurbished one at no charge. Now, go and get your radio replaced... :)

This is my 4th Grand Cherokee - 2018 (100K). All the others lasted well past 225k miles before I sold them. NEVER had any issues with the radios. Radio delamination on the 2018 started and I need assistance. What has happened? The Jeep dealer said he'd have to replace the entire radio ($1,000+). Very concerned that this isn't a recall item. I rely on the navigation system.
