Wow. Came here after my screen did the same for 2019 cherokee limited at 37,300 and the top of the screen is delaminated. I basically called and complained to FCA and they said essentially that is a widely known problem right at the warranty mark. They said to set up an appointment with the dealership, they will escalate my case to a manager, and after the appointment will let me know what they decide. She even said she doesn't know why there isn't a recall issued.

Update: FCA covered all costs for replacement and services. Had it wrapped up and fixed in two weeks.

Ali baba have the stated LG part number $29-150. Enquiring for a sample price. Do the bosses look correct?

Has anyone else had this issue. Just noticed this on my 2018 GC. The display screen is starting to delaminate. See photo. It is not a crack, it looks like layers are separating (delaminating). Will they have to replace the whole unit or is the screen separate???

My screen is doing the same thing. I’ve only had this jeep for 1 year and I bought it from big o dodge dealership and it’s out of it warranty and they won’t replace my screen. I have 38,000 miles on the car and the warranty expired at 36,000. I also filed a complaint with the FCA and they said it’s nothing they can do.

How have each of you been able to have these screens replaced. When I contacted the dealership I was told I’d have to pay out of pocket. Perhaps my mileage is too high. Mopar told me I can pay to replace this and that only if it became a known issue where a recall would be made would I then be reimbursed. It would appear to me here that this is a known issue. I have a 2018 GC which I’ve enjoyed immensely, this is a big disappointment.

So disappointed (and that's putting it nicely) in Jeep right now. I have a 2018 Jeep Compass I bought used less than 1 year ago. Loved the car until the Uconnect touchscreen began to delaminate and the ghost touching started. I cannot believe with all the reports I have seen that this has not been recalled as a safety issue. I filed a report a few days ago with the NHTSA. Spoke with Jeep Cares (do they?) and was told unfortunately as a second owner and with 43,000 miles, there would no financial assistance but to save my receipts for reimbursement should this be recalled. The local dealership informed me that they can only replace the entire unit at a cost of $2400! When I asked about just replacing the touchscreen, my service rep said it's not possible to just replace the screen. I questioned him about this and he remained adamant that my only solution is to replace the entire unit. I called another dealer and they were a lot friendlier but said the same thing and that they are replacing the units not the screens. What am I missing here?! I see other posts in this forum and elsewhere online indicating they replaced the touchscreen only, either at a dealership or purchasing online and installing themselves. Is this truly not an option for some models?

File a report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - (888) 327-4236. This is a safety issue and a recall is warranted. It is a distraction to have radio stations changing, calls being made, heat being turned on/off and GPS changing directions.

So the problem is that Jeep isn't going to get involved in pulling apart the unit just to replace the screen itself. Is it possible? Sure, people have already done it and that has been documented repeatedly. But Jeep isn't going to do that....instead, they'll replace the entire assembly. This happens all the time with lots of particular repair parts, unfortunately.

Same issue. 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk with 40k miles. Screen delamination started last week and spread across the top of the screen and is starting to randomly select things. Taking it to a dealership to see if they can fix it next week.
Did the dealership fix it for you> I have same vehicle, only 37k, and the dealership said I had to pay since it was out of warranty.

Question: I have a Jeep Compass 2018 Trailhawk. The screen part number is la084x01-sl01. Can I swap this out with the current screen which has the model number la084x01-sl03?
LA084x01-SL03 is the current UAQ screen part # and is a direct replacement for the original SL01 version that will delaminate. The earlier replacement screen (SL02) can also be used and will not delaminate.

There are numerous You-tube videos that will guide you through the DIY screen replacement.

BTW; The reason dealers will only replace the entire headhunt and refuse to let you keep the old "Damaged" headhunt is that the "old" unit is sent to a radio repair service where the screen is replaced and the refurbished unit is put back in the Mopar OEM part supply chain and sold as NEW.

Please read the entire thing and lets get a recall issued so FCA will do the right thing and replace these!

So this is an issue across almost 10 different MOPAR vehicles over about 3-4 model years (so a lot of vehicles). Personally mine is on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 29000 miles (Out of warranty by about 6 months). I have started an inquiry with the National Highway Transportation Safety Agency (NHTSA) - they are responsible for issuing recalls. @JeepCares and Uconnect are not going to help and you will be stuck with a $1200+ bill.

FCA KNOWS this is an issue and is doing nothing to rectify it for those of us out of warranty. They also are not providing any repair option other than full replacement which is ridiculous since there is a chip shortage and all that really needs to be done is replace the screen itself. LG makes the screen and also KNOWS this is an issue, they have discontinued the original model number and now make a new model number (see ebay link - 17-21 Replacement 8.4" Uconnect 4C UAQ LCD MONITOR Touch-Screen Radio Navigation | eBay) , so if you are going with the replace it yourself route make sure you order a screen that is the new model number (it will not bubble). The PN you want to order is LA084X01(SL)(02), the (01) is the defective screen and is discontinued by LG. Hence clearly it is a known issue and I am assuming that LG has paid FCA for their mistake and in turn FCA should pass that back the customer by replacing defective screens at no cost no matter warranty status!

Please everyone who wants to get FCA to do the right thing, go to the NHSTA website and start your own claim, with enough claims, they will have to start a full investigation into FCA. The website is: Report a Safety Problem | NHTSA . We have to show why it is a safety issues, and while it may not seem like an obvious safety issue, when the screen starts doing phantom touches it is very distracting to the driver. Also, as the glue melts, it leaks onto the wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensor and traction control off controls.
I agree with this but it will not matter if it is not stressed as a safety related issue. The complaints need to state a safety factor like the HVAC controls cannot be changed to defrost the windows which may result in visibility concerns and cannot drive safely, or something of that nature

About 2 weeks ago I bought a 2018 Grand Cherokee High Altitude. It has about 36,000 miles and is a certified pre owned vehicle. Within a week of buying the vehicle I noticed the top of the screen starting to delaminate. I called Uconnect and the first person that I talked to said it wouldn't be covered since I am the second owner. I called back again and talked to someone else and they told me to take it to the dealer to get diagnosed and then they would try to do a "good faith" replacement of the screen. I took it to the dealer and they told me it needed to be replaced. I called Uconnect back and they said they would elevate my issue to case management. A day later they called and said they would be more than happy to replace the screen at no cost to me. I guess it just depends on who you talk to. Call 1-800-826-6632 and tell them you want a good faith replacement. Uconnect knows its an issue and seem to be willing to help.

2018 JGC Trailhawk. Delaminated at 42,000 miles. Being inspected by the service center now.

Luckily, I'm under max care extended warranty plan... out of pocket will be no more than $100 deductable. Granted, even paying that much for a known and widespread issue seems unreasonable.

I agree. This is a known issue and seems pretty widespread, at least with the 2018 models. Jeep should replace these screens at no charge, even when out of the warranty period.

I just purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee yesterday. Everything worked fine. Today I got in my car and Uconnet started asking if I wanted to reset my clock. The jeep has 47000 miles on it. Is JEEP taking care of this issue? I had to have the Uconnet replaced in my 2014 Chreokee. It stopped working completely. The first replacement radio didn't work and I had to wait for a second. I was really hoping that the newer system would work better.🙄
