I bought my 2011 patriot in Nov of last year we'll i just jumped a friend for the first time not realizing that the battery had a cover over it well I thought the ECU was a battery connection so i pulled the little red handle and it killed the jeep. Got it going again but the check engine light is now on I had a coworker of mine scan it for me and it came up with no codes. I don't know much except for the basics (brakes, radiator, etc) so I'm at a loss any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the garage.
Not familiar with the Patriot, but i would first try a battery disconnect for some minutes and go from there. If the check engine light is still on after that, then there should be a fault code set. You could try the key dance to check for codes: ignition switch off/run three times and leave in run at the third time. Odometer should show DONE when all ok, or one or more fault code(s).

Check for a fault code set in the PCM with a scanner. Not sure if the keydance works on the Patriot, because it will show the fault on the odometer: ignition switch off/run three times and leave it in run at the third time. The odometer will show DONE when no faults stored, or a fault(s).
It most probably is the crank or cam sensor causing your problem.
