Yea looks like that kit is mostly plug and play for RAM pickups.

This shows that it fits 2012 GC. It's ok, I have a plan on how to make it work. I'll post pics when it's done.

My installation...

 

Are installs are similar. I cut off the plug off and ran the red wire to the positive post and the black to the negative post. Also replaced the bulb with an LED bulb. Works great.

 

I thought about using that positive post when I did mine but decided I wanted to keep the fuse inside the fuse panel. If I had used the positive post my plan was to drill and tap a threaded hole into the side of the big post and put a small bolt there so I could easily add stuff in the future.

THere were no existing holes. As I recall (was a year ago) I drilled a hole into the stiffening braces under the hood skin for the mounting screw. The lamp housing I used was off a 95 Caprice but looks similar to the genuine RAM one. I don't think the JGC ever had any factory provisions for an underhood light.

Yes, I think the part listing showed it would fit up thru 2012 so I assume up till then it was a factory option for some of the trim levels. I've never understood why manufacturers always wind up decontenting some of these little things as a particular model line ages even as they add newer gizmos to them.

They got rid of the Underhood lights because in the WJ era it was getting stuck on and draining peoples batteries all time.

Happen in my 99,00,01 Grands I had.

 

One of the coolest features I had in my '89 Cherokee Laredo was the factory under hood light that was on a retractable cord that could pull out and be used for changing a tire or any other need around the vehicle.
