Did replacing the Transfer Case Control Module fix the ticking sound issue? Currently replaced the transfer case shift motor because the noise sounded like it was coming right from there but after replacing still makes the same ticking noise on startup.

We're sorry to hear you're running into some concerns. If this continues, we'd suggest a visit to your preferred Jeep dealership. Let us know if you need any support while there.

resurrecting this thread as the ticking continues and is starting to wind me up. It is doing on and off load (when moving), when selecting D or R, and when turning ignition on. Interestingly, it doesn't do it in Low at all. I thought it might be the drive shaft, and it is possible it might be some of the time, but clearly not before the engine has started.

Any ideas. At this rate I will retire the old girl as soon as I can get my hands on the new landcruiser...

Just started experiencing the exact same problem. Clicking, problems turning, and weird hesitation in shifting. Changed out the transfer case control module and it was like brand new. Dealership wanted $640. I bought one on eBay for $85 bucks

Thought i would see if shifting to 4wd-low would change/reset it... 4wd-low wouldn't activate... nothing, nada! no lights when pushing the button, no dash warning etc.. When and pulled fuses etc.. put them back. Got back in the car... 4wd-low engaged without a problem. Put it back into normal driving mode, ticking stopped. Took it for a drive and it was acting normally again. Will monitor over next few days...
What fuses did you pull? Mines doing the same exact thing and they told me it was the transfer case so we replaced that and it’s still doing it. $1500 later and not fixed

Hi, how are you? Were you able to solve your problem? What was wrong that was causing the noise?

Hi Sl13, have you managed to sort out this problem? I have the exact same thing going on. Changed TC motor, TC control module, TC fluid and still happening. No clicking when in 4Lo. Any help would be great, love the car but worried about damage to drive components in the future if not sorted. Thanks
