Contact Uconnect support team? Yes, they told me to take to dealer, and dealer told me it is out of warranty and bricked. That took all of 5 minutes. They didn't offer to help whatsoever and simply said once you get to that step you need a new unit.
What I'm confused with on your statement above is you "just continued to try to update and finally it worked." If you get to the step 11 situation, the unit can't be turned off anymore and continues all night rebooting until you pull negative battery cable and/or unplug power to back of unit. My unit is now unplugged from the rear via 52 pin connector and I have a new UAQ unit arriving in a couple of days. Wonderful expense for a USB update to brick a stereo that controls half of the Jeeps features. My wife loves it when the AC doesn't work or can be controlled. Great! :slapfight:
I understand your frustration. I found it pretty damn furstrating as well.
Here's what I experienced:
I tried to update with a USB. It failed at Section 11 with the bolo error.
The system would tell me to remove the USB then wait for a couple minutes and it would ask for the USB again. This is the loop we all experience.
I saw this thread and read that some of the other folks suggested that we keep trying to upgrade.
As was suggested, while I was out driving around I'd let the update run. So I'd put in the USB when the system asked for it then when it got to the error message I'd take out the USB and then start all over again. Then the next day I'd do the same thing.
On about the 4th day or so of doing this, I went through the update process while out driving around about 4 times before it suddenly took. I looked down and it was on Section 12 and then it completely and I had my screen back.
So that's what I mean.
When you get to Section 11 and it fails, my experience was it'll say remove the USB. When I did that I saw an hour glass with a message saying wait 2 - 5 minutes while the system resets. Then it asks for the USB again and you repeat the process.
