take the limiter off! I did in my WJ and idk how far I got it up to bc the speedo only goes up to 120MPH but its suppose to be able to do 128MPH. Im thinking the WKII can do much better.

RE: Speed Rated Tires
The speed rating is the sustained speed rating, not a limit on a short duration (i.e. 1min) high speed run. That said, I'd not be pushing "slow" tires at high speeds very often as their construction is not meant for that.

Tires NOT rated for truly high speeds will, given their construction, heat up faster and disintegrate if used for a sustained period at higher than rated speeds. Running a tire under-inflated at 45mph can have the same disintegrating effect.

It is often the case that high speed track racing tires will absolutely suck on the street until they are heated up to their designed operating temperature. That's why you see Formula 1 and NASCAR guys, for example, driving a few warm up laps with lots of swerving while doing so...to heat the tires.

The max I have been on an SUV is about 140mph on an X5 in germany (fastest in any car I have driven is 170mph) The X5 felt too heavy and It was to stressful to drive at this kind of speed.

I also tried the Cayenne and it felt the same way. I do not think SUVs are safe going at the above mentioned speeds. The momentum inertia an all those built at 130MPH with a 5000lb car are too great to be controllable by most driver.

And if the speed limit is 65 anyway...

I have an 05 Laredo that I threw Brembos on as well as the full SRT suspension plus some upgrades to the sway links and springs dropping it lower than SRT stock height. I travel on 95 weekly usually after 10pm and there are never more then 2-3 cars near me at any time and I can get her up to 116 I think when the limiter comes in. She feels just as good at 115 as she does at 75, the Nittos help a bit and all the upgrades make it. I can get her down from 115 to 60 in a flash as well if need be.

I think it all comes back to knowing your car, knowing your surroundings and being attentive and somewhat cautious. High speeds arent that dangerous if you take all the aforementioned into account, speed never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary, thats what will get ya ;)

I've done 232klm/h in my non-restristed export version...... on a public beach.

And guess what, it didn't burst into flames and didn't explode, didn't kill baby seals, and didn't make the sky fall!!!!!!

in my 09 diesel X5, it would pull right up to 136, with tires that were rated for it, and feel as planted as the rock of gibraltar. its all about being smooth, alert, and attentive. I once made it 97 miles in an hour and 10 at 2am on 65mph speed limit patrolled highway, with a couple sustain runs at 136.

That shit is DUMB. Like, really really dumb. I didnt get busted, i did see a couple smokies, but hell son, it was stressful!

Now whenever i drive, im just chillin. I aint got no reason to speed. just throw the cruise control on at 10mph over the posted limit, turn up the radio, and relaxxxxxxxx. I love it, it's SO much better than being stressed out speeding and cutting 5 minutes off your travel time.

110mph electronic limiter? Hell if i care. I'll get my high speed thrills elsewhere. I'm a pilot and there aint no speed limit in the sky. I'll cruise around at 220mph all damn day. (Now for any other pilots out there who may read this, yes, I'm aware the the limit below 10,000ft is 250kts, and in class bravo airspace is 200kts...)

I nearly hit 3 deer in my old WK three weeks ago; right after I told my dad to watch for deer, panic stop around a curve. A week later, I bought the WK2.
