Mine was LA084X01-SL01 which was the previous model from LG and has been replaced with LA084X01-SL2.

This is the one I got on eBay:

And this is the video on youTube for the instructions to replace the defective screen from the radio:
I guess it looks manageable. I will probably go this route. Maybe these newer screens don’t have these problems. Thanks a lot.

One more question. I assume Jeep or any mopar/dealer site does not sell this screen separately? It looks like they are only available on eBay. Either direct from China or someone in the US buying from overseas and reselling. Do these screens have a warranty? Thanks again.

So last Friday I called customer care and told them it's been close to 3 months waiting on a new radio....Would you believe as of Wed the dealership had it in and today Thursday it was installed. It looks to me like it's a clearer screen and it feels slightly different. Hopefully the problem is corrected.

The screens have a warranty provided by the eBay seller so make sure to check for it

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.
Hello JeepCares! I'm in Western Australia and my 2018 Jeep Compass Limited has the same delaminating issue with the 8.4" UConnect screen. I've taken it to my local dealership and they've taken photos and logged it under warranty but they are saying they've got about 10 customers all with the same issue logged, one waiting 3 months now, and they've received no ETAs on parts.

Is there anything you can do to help us down under suffering the same issues? My stereo has a mind of it's own, it managed to navigate into the settings screen and almost turned itself French, I shut it down just in time! :) I've found a CarPlay screen I can leave it on where the self-touching does minimal damage but it's a nuisance. I logged it with the dealership about 3 weeks ago but they said they're in the dark a bit on this one.

Hey, snag0n. Unfortunately, you will have to contact the team in your region for assistance. The Chrysler Customer Assistance Centre can be contacted 5 days per week at 1800 870 714. Alternatively, you can contact them via this page: Chrysler Australia: Official Site: Luxury Sedan Cars. Hope that helps!

Does anyone know if the replacement UAQ units are any different? Will this problem come back with the new ones?
When I was dealing with customer care on the replacement I asked the same question (they had no idea nor did the dealership) The only thing I can tell you is that the surface on the replacement radio seems to be smoother and a bit clearer....

Would you be so kind as to post what you found on Ebay? My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee is doing the same and it has too many miles for this to be under warranty. I'm trying to find one on Ebay too. I have the part number of the part, but I'm not trying to spend $500 for the whole thing if it's only the screen that needs to be replaced.

I've tried "2018 Jeep grand cherokee lcd screen", "uconnect screen". I don't know which exact one I should type in to search.

Help?

This is a known issue on all Mopar vehicles. I would go to the dealership first they may take care of it free of charge. It's so bad I waited 2 1/2 months before they got my replacement, that's how backed up they are. It's worth a shot!

2018 Jeep GC limited 4x4 just called Jeep cares and was told there was nothing they could do to replace my screen because I was at 83k miles, several dodge and Jeep forums talk about this issue and is a known issue I’m not sure why this hasn’t been recalled. They know the units are doing this and are replacing them but because of my miles I have to pay out of pocket, doesn’t seem right to me. Highly upset Jeep owner right now and for this to be my 1st Jeep and to have this issue and the lack of support from Jeep it will probably be my last.

Has anyone else had this issue. Just noticed this on my 2018 GC. The display screen is starting to delaminate. See photo. It is not a crack, it looks like layers are separating (delaminating). Will they have to replace the whole unit or is the screen separate???

Mine just started delaminating. I am just nearing the end of a 39mo lease. I am now worried that when I turn it in they will charge me for this! Should I contact the dealership now? It sounds like the parts wouldn’t be in before my lease is up anyway. I can’t afford to pay for the repair out if pocket right now & I assume it is now out of warranty. Any advice???

Yes get it in to the dealership ASAP so that it is covered under warranty.

They should still do it under the goodwill call if you don’t have higher mileage good luck I didn’t get anywhere because I have 83k on mine
The service manager just got back with me a while ago. He said that they won’t charge me for it when I turn it in at the end of the lease. I told him I was worried that it may start seriously malfunctioning before that (lease ends in July). I also thought if I go ahead & have them order the part now then it is already fixed when I turn it back into them so they can immediately resell it, otherwise they are stuck with it on their lot for maybe a few months??? until the part comes in. He said if I want to have it fixed before lease end that it has to be out of my own pocket. VERY disappointed with Jeep. I am leasing my GC & also own an older Wrangler. I was wanting to buy my GC at the end of the lease or possibly opt for a newer one until this happened. Now that Jeep is leaving me in a situation where I may have to drive a vehicle that might randomly start changing its settings & put myself & my family in danger I will be looking at other manufacturers for my next purchase...

Man, I searched all over for a thread like this back when mine started to delaminate.:)
Same as most, a 2018 GC Overland, and I was over 3y36k, but with my max care, it was covered. Just had to pay my $100 deductible. Anyway the dealer ordered it, called about two weeks later when it came in. Went today, and it probably took 15min to install. I agree with the comments by others, the new screen does look clearer and shaper. Hopefully, it won’t suffer same fate, down the road..

I would make sure he puts that in writing and if you are under 60k miles Jeep cares will make them replace it, give them a call and see if you have any better luck.
