Update!
I took my 2018 Grand Cherokee into the dealership this morning to address the problems with the replacement 8.4 touchscreen they installed on August 20th. They did not charge me to evaluate the above mentioned problems. They told me they had contacted U-Connect concerning the problems with the unit, U-Connect told them it was "Not Registered" and that is why it was not working correctly. That just sounds like an excuse to me, the replacement unit now needs to be replaced. The dealership has ordered me another replacement touchscreen and should arrive in 7-10 days, since it has the 2-year warranty it will not cost me anything this time. The good thing is I am retired and have the time to take care of this ongoing problem, if I was still working this would have been a hassle. I hope my second replacement touchscreen does not have problems.
I just had my radio replaced yesterday and the activate services errors out and the assist button on mirror doesn't work. The dealer told me it can take 24 hours to activate. Hopefully I don't need it replaced again :(

Just filed a claim with NHTSA, this is happening on my 18 compass trailhawk. I’m out out of warranty 3/36 and 2nd owner so really need this so be an official recall because we shouldn’t have to pay for this!
Please read the entire thing and lets get a recall issued so FCA will do the right thing and replace these!

So this is an issue across almost 10 different MOPAR vehicles over about 3-4 model years (so a lot of vehicles). Personally mine is on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 29000 miles (Out of warranty by about 6 months). I have started an inquiry with the National Highway Transportation Safety Agency (NHTSA) - they are responsible for issuing recalls. @JeepCares and Uconnect are not going to help and you will be stuck with a $1200+ bill.

FCA KNOWS this is an issue and is doing nothing to rectify it for those of us out of warranty. They also are not providing any repair option other than full replacement which is ridiculous since there is a chip shortage and all that really needs to be done is replace the screen itself. LG makes the screen and also KNOWS this is an issue, they have discontinued the original model number and now make a new model number (see ebay link - 17-21 Replacement 8.4" Uconnect 4C UAQ LCD MONITOR Touch-Screen Radio Navigation | eBay) , so if you are going with the replace it yourself route make sure you order a screen that is the new model number (it will not bubble). The PN you want to order is LA084X01(SL)(02), the (01) is the defective screen and is discontinued by LG. Hence clearly it is a known issue and I am assuming that LG has paid FCA for their mistake and in turn FCA should pass that back the customer by replacing defective screens at no cost no matter warranty status!

Please everyone who wants to get FCA to do the right thing, go to the NHSTA website and start your own claim, with enough claims, they will have to start a full investigation into FCA. The website is: Report a Safety Problem | NHTSA . We have to show why it is a safety issues, and while it may not seem like an obvious safety issue, when the screen starts doing phantom touches it is very distracting to the driver. Also, as the glue melts, it leaks onto the wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensor and traction control off controls.

It can take time. I had the same problem and followed these steps from SiriusXM guardian so it may or may not be relevant for you:

“We have determined the next step to resolve the issue is to perform a Clear Personal Data on the vehicle’s touchscreen. Make sure your vehicle is parked where it has direct access to the sky (not inside a parking structure or garage), turn on the ignition and follow the steps below using your vehicle’s touchscreen:
1. From the “Settings” menu, select "Clear Personal Data".

2. Select "Yes" when you see the pop-up.

3. Wait for a pop-up that says "Personal data has been cleared," then press OK. This could take up to 10 minutes.

4. Keep vehicle running for another 15 minutes.

5. Open the “Assist” app from the touchscreen and confirm that the app is accessible. If the app is not accessible, keep vehicle running another 5 minutes and try again.

6. Turn the vehicle off and wait at least 45 minutes for process to complete.
*Please be aware that the process to clear personal data may require additional action to re-pair Bluetooth devices and reset radio favorites.”

Thank you. I checked today and the activate services app worked now and so did calling Assist in the vehicle. The rep stated it usually takes a few days for everything to update and if it isn't entirely working in a few days the dealer should open a STAR case. I did not reset anything yet.

Actually I just checked my off road app and that won’t open for some reason. At some point I look forward to having a 100 percent operational Jeep.

Just got off the phone with Chrysler and they told me mine wasn’t covered. I would have thought a 2018 would still be under the 3 yr but I guess because I am at 60k miles it’s not covered. Wish I would have known when I bought this thing the tiny little bubble at the very top corner would turn into a HUGE issue. Any suggestions for NON warranty repairs?? I can’t spend $2500 to get this fixed. Any suggestions would be appreciated
You can replace just the screen. They will run you around $200 on ebay. Look for LA084X01-SL2. The video to install is here:

Good luck!

Another Update!
I took my 2018 Grand Cherokee into the dealership today to have the REPLACENENT 8.4 Touchscreen replaced as described in the previous post. Well things did not go as I hoped for them to go. They told me the part ordered was correct, but that the unit in the box they received was not the correct one for my Jeep. Now another replacement 8.4 Touchscreen must be ordered, which means at least another two weeks before they have a chance to get it right. Lets hope that the "Third time is the charm". It does no good to get mad and pissed off, I can only hope that the next unit they receive is the correct one and it works like it is supposed to.

2018 Grand Cherokee Altitude with 46k.
I am the 2nd owner and told I am out of warranty and out of luck. i wasn't even given a price to fix it, just told it was not covered. This is my first jeep after driving toyota's for 20+ years. will most likely trade this suv in if i can't get this taken care of. Has anyone had success with Jeep Cares?

UPDATE: @JeepCares got me a replacement radio at no cost to me. Thanks, Jeep!

Same problem here on my 2018 GC LTD with 9,700 miles. (Not a typo, that's 9,700.) I am the original owner, and out of warrantee. It's at the dealer right now; they basically told me I am out of luck. Here comes a $2k bill. 😡 It's not practical for me to fix this myself because I am in a city apartment with no place to work on a car.
I tried to message Courtney @JeepCares, but the message would not go through because I have not posted here enough. I also filed a complaint with NHTSC, but I am not holding my breath that that will get me relief. I tried the "hotline" someone posted earlier in this thread -- it was answered with, "thanks for calling the certified pre-owned center" so I hung up. My car isn't pre-owned unless and untill I sell it-- I bought it brand new with less than 20 miles on the OD from a test drive. Any suggestions?

Last Update for this thread.
Took GC into the dealership for the fifth time on the problem with the touchscreen. They replaced the touchscreen (Factory Rebuilt Unit) for the third time and they finally got it right. It works like it is supposed to and I am very glad I don't have to take it back again.
Good luck to those of you with this touchscreen problem, it has been a real pain to get mine taken care of, hope I never have to go to the dealership again.

I just checked and I see some listed for as low as $67 with free shipping when I did a search for "LA084X01-SL2 ", like the quoted reply said to do. Many, many more for less than $200.
Those prices are NOT for a full replacement LCD screen, they are for a transparent LCD overlay that provides the touch input. If you have the screen delamitation problem everyone is describing here, you have to replace the entire LCD screen assembly, because the touch layer is glued to the LCD screen and that is what is delaminating. I do not see any $200 or less full LCD replacements on eBay. You can find a number of replacement screens that are under $600, but they are the older SL01 version, which are the screens that are delaminating. If the eBay sales item does not show the back of the part with an image similar to this, it will not solve the delamination problem.

Wow. I just recently purchased a 2018 GC Sterling Edition with 41k miles. I noticed I have the screen delamination issue. Hopefully I can get this repaired with little trouble.
You need to read this whole thread to understand what your options are to take care of this problem. Posts #102 and #106 will help to know what you can do. My post on #114 will give you what I did to get mine fixed. The third unit the dealership got for me finally fixed my 2018 GC. Rock Auto was selling new units for around $1,500-$2,000 but the part numbers they listed did not match anything I could find to be able to know it would work in your vehicle. You basically have three choices, take it out and apart yourself replace the Digitizer (Glass Lens) from EBAY and reinstall or send your unit to Infotainment in Florida (Not everybody was happy with their work) and then reinstall it or have the dealership replace it with their rebuilt unit (2 year warranty). The new units on EBAY all appeared to be out of stock or not currently unavailable. Don't let it go to long because as the gel in between the digitizer (glass lens) and the unit itself melts and runs down into the heat/air-conditioner controls it then can ruin them as well.

UPDATE: I called Jeep Cares and gave them my VIN. I had brought my 2018 GC to the dealer to document the problem, and they went ahead and ordered me a replacement radio. Jeep Cares gave me a case number and I had them also call the service manager at my local dealer. They covered the replacement at no cost to me even though I am more than one year out of warantee. Even though it's a minor pain to have to bring my car in, I am extremely pleased. Jeep really does care! For those having trouble, try calling.

Please post a link to this part for under $200; here's the current listing at $550 for a refurbished (not brand new) screen.
As someone else pointed out, your $67 part is not the whole screen, and it's not from LG.
